Dan M Stevens Named Volunteer of the Year in Clermont ACS

Dan M Stevens received the American Cancer Society Volunteer of the Year honor from Charles P Woods in Bethel. Stevens, the county's youngest Township Chairman, was praised for careful planning and broad county impact. He was elected to the Clermont County Unit Board of Directors for two years. Stevens is connected with Kennedy Funeral Home through his father Richard Stevens.

No Objectors At Hearing On MGS Water Extension

Clermont County Commissioners held a public hearing on a $40 000 extension of the MGS Water System with no objections. Three endorsed the plan as about 50 more homes on Price Road Hobby Horse Lane Eastern Avenue Rainbow Trail wards Corner Road Deblin Drive and Thorny Ridge Drive would be served, financed by revenue. The county also set vacation and holiday benefits for full time employees and noted a county welfare director need not reside in the county. Officials promoted local fruit farming with a list of area orchards and announced a meeting with agricultural agents to discuss boosting fruit growing.

Food Stamp Plan Approved for Clermont County Banks

State welfare officials accept a six month trial at 60 cents per transaction for handling federal food stamps by Clermont County banks after banks asked 75 cents. The plan, supervised by the Welfare Dept under the U S Agriculture, aims to boost buying power for low income families. Harold Krempien and Bernice Liming were hired for the program with monthly salaries of 575 and 288 dollars respectively.

Mother and Daughter Charged With Shoplifting at Albers Supermarket

Elizabeth T. Amann, 48, of Cincinnati, and Bernadette Marcum, 18, of Milford, were charged with petty larceny after alledged shoplifting at Albers Supermarket in Cherry Grove. Store manager Terry Welch signed the affidavit citing $8.26 in stolen merchandise.

United Appeal exceeds goal across five-county area

The Greater Cincinnati Area United appeal surpassed its $7,968,042 goal by $9,943, with AREA A 100.1 percent, AREA B 100.2 percent and AREA C at 100 percent. Clermont County new man Robert W. Kocher announced the totals as Milford, Williamsburg and Batavia branches promote Story Hour and encourage returning overdue books.

Recording Fees Down Slightly in Clermont County October

Clermont County recorder William She besta reports October totals show lower fee income than a year earlier. Fees reached 2648 with deed recordings at 293 and 222 mortgages totaling about 2.47 million dollars. Major lenders were Mt Lookout Building and Loan Hunter Savings and Standard Building and Loan.

Traffic Signal Approved At Bus Crossing In New Richmond

A traffic signal will be erected at Augusta Street at the U S 52 crossing in New Richmond to protect bus traffic as buses cross the intersection 80 times daily. The state will add a street light and the village will install lights on intersecting streets. Ohio Dept of Highways will count pedestrians at the crossing during a day to be set.

New Richmond National Bank appoints H. Earl Metzger county auditor and Stephen A. on 82nd birthday to its board, filling vacancies created by the deaths of Judge John W. Haussermann and Niel Buckley. John Russell Found Guilty in Clermont County Court

John Russell was found guilty by Clermont County Court of a practicing judge related offense. He was fined $800 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with the jail term suspended and five years probation imposed.

County-Wide Free Adult Education Program OK'd

The Owensville Clermont Northeastern High School will host a county wide free Adult Basic Education program with experienced teachers and adult materials. Final approval for the $15 000 project came from Local Superintendent Lewis C Miller after clearance from State Adult Education supervisor Karl Kessler. Registration is in the high school lobby on Monday November 8 and Tuesday November 9 from 3 to 8 p.m. Classes run each Tuesday and Thursday 6 30 to 9 30 p.m. starting Tuesday for residents from grade level one through eight including those who never attended school.

Two County Schools To Host Scientists

The Ohio Science Association will host a Fall Conference in Columbus November 6 and 7 with county teachers attending. On November 8 three scientists will visit Batavia High School and Amelia High School for two county-wide conferences led by Dr Uri Haber-Schaim Dr Judson Cross and Dr Norman Abraham.

Mrs. Betty Tewmey sold the first share of stock to Chester L. Hamilton, chairman of the Sesquicentennial Celebration in New Richmond set for 1966.
