County, State & Nation Goes GOP Hayden Hill and Jones Win

In Clermont county election results Republicans swept all posts. Blythe Jones topped auditor race by 2553 votes, John Hayden won representative race by 1647, Manly Hill beat Walter Jordan by 1534 for commissioner, and Edward McCowen defeated Jake Davis by 2102 in the 6th district congressional contest.

Armistice Day Party at Mt Carmel School

The Mt Carmel Glen Este Parent-Teacher Association hosts an Armistice Day gathering on November 11 from 6 to 8 pm with a sauerkraut supper and chili. At 8:15 pm a variety of card games including 500 bridge and euchre. prizes will be awarded. Proceeds benefit the school library fund.

Scrap workers to stay on jobs during scrap drive

The United States Employment Service Northern district says no major transfers for 90 days to other war industries as scrap processing keeps dealers and auto wreckers busy. A basic registration for gas books is set for November 12 to 14 from 1 to 9 pm at the local schoolhouse with required documents listed by Ed Saxton, ratioing board chairman.

Women Club Debate Sets Thursday Meeting in Batavia

Batavia Woman's Club and Batavia Junior Woman's Club plan a joint meeting Thursday at 8 P M at Mrs. Claude Smith's home. The program features a debate on whether the Modern Girl is a more valuable citizen than her grandmother with Mrs Hubert Cobler and Mrs P F Jamison on the negative side and Mrs Karl South and Mrs James Gregg on the affirmative.

New Altimeter Uses Cosmic Rays For Altitude Readout

A patent describes a novel altitude instrument for aircraft that uses cosmic ray interactions to determine height. The system provides real time altitude data to the pilot via the new altimeter device.

Mrs Vivian Dumford formerly Deputy Clerk to Judge Halbisch was selected as switchboard operator and typist with the Inspector of Naval Material Cincinnati district. She began general office work January 1988 and moved to switchboard typing in October 1941 with Myers Y Cooper Co. Her husband Oscar L Dumford Jr entered the U S Army October 26 and serves as secretary to Captain Vonschlict in Kentucky.

Death of Clarence Brothers in Newtown

Clarence Brothers husband of Catherine Ireton and son of Mrs. David Brothers died suddenly at home in Newtown on Monday November 2. The Moore Funeral Home Batavia handles remains with services planned for Wednesday November 4 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Batavia Cemetery.
