Frank M. Titus a lifelong Clermont county resident died suddenly at his home on the McKeever pike near Williamsburg on May 25 at age 77 or 78. Born December 1861 in Batavia township he leaves wife Annie Titus four sons Murray Allen Robert and Frederick sisters Margaret Olmstead and Lucy Anderson and a large circle of relatives. He was regarded as one of Clermont county’s best farmers and his loss is deeply mourned.

Pownall 42 pleaded for a new trial in Clermont County Common Pleas Court claiming insufficient evidence insanity and legal errors after his murder conviction for the fatal shooting of housekeeper Bertha Mae King 43 at his New Richmond home. The state case was presented by Prosecuting Attorney Frank A. Roberts and Forrest E. Ely.

O. E. Canter Dies After Heart Attack in Milford
O. E. Canter of Laurel Street Milford owner of several Clermont county filling stations died en route to a Cincinnati hospital after collapsing at a Milford station. He became ill while servicing a car and was taken by ambulance with Dr. Robert Thomas at the wheel. He left a widow and son Lawrence and is survived by a brother in Florida and a sister in Cincinnati.

Garden Club Hosts May Meeting In Williamsburg
Mrs Kermit Hutchinson and Mrs H F Jordan entertained the Williamsburg Garden Club on May 2. A roll call of plants included a sample of wild rice from Elberta Alabama gathered Oct 14 1938 by Charles Woodruff Owensville. The plant, sown like grass seed, was noted for birds. Mrs Pearl Long spoke on Art of Home Landscaping while Mrs DeVore entertained last week. Strawberries brick ice cream angel and devil food cake and coffee were served.

Chile Centennial Set for July 1 2
Chile plans a two day centennial celebration built around the Ohio River. July 1 marks the founding anniversary with local officials leading events and July 2 will be hosted by the Chile Methodist Church and area churches. The village traces to 1816 with Bagby as founder and early residents including Bailey Bagby Campbell Dennison Day Evans Hall. The current church building is a century old, surviving river floods.

Farmer Titus Dies After Fall in Ohio Ravine
Frank M. Titus a 77 year old Williamsburg Township farmer was found dead with a fractured skull at the bottom of an 18 foot ravine on his farm. His son Frederick 17 found him after a two hour search. Funeral services were held at Maham Funeral Home. He is survived by his widow Amun Harrison Titus and four sons Murray Allen Robert and Frederick.
