Charles Robinson Smith born March 16 1838 in Union Chapel died May 22 1922 aged 84 years 2 months 5 days. Youngest son of George Smith and Elizabeth Robinson Smith widow of Jeremiah Cleveland survived by two children Carrie A Flanders and O B Smith. He lived on the same farm most of his life and was known as Uncle Charlie and Aunt Ann for his cheer and help. He married Sarah Ann Miller on November 28 1862. He cherished neighbors and prepared his own funeral arrangements promising a peaceful end and bidding farewell to friends.

Emma Bechtel widow of William Bechtel died Saturday after Friday operation for tumor in West Virginia. Her remains returned to Batavia Sunday and she was buried Tuesday in Union Cemetery. She is survived by son Ernest of Seattle and a daughter. She was 52.
