Three Hurt In Collisions and a Pinning Incident

Weekend crashes in Batavia county injure three people and a Bethel mother narrowly escapes serious harm when pinned under her car. Mary Hunt, 37, of near Bethel, freed after half an hour, with three children uninjured. Other crashes involve Raymond Pingle, Homer Gates, and J H Zappin, with multiple injuries and citations for driving infractions. A separate rain collision ties up Route 132 near Williams Corner. Also announced is a June Week For Christ at New Richmond First Baptist with Rev. Charles Harrison and John Atherton, plus vacation Bible school sessions.

Loveland Doctor Honored at Mercy Hospital Meeting

Dr. Frank H. Lever of Loveland received a memorial plaque at a Our Lady of Mercy Hospital staff meeting in Mariemont. Sister Mary Benignus, hospital administrator, presented the award recognizing his 50 years of medical practice in Loveland and surrounding areas.

Loveland Senior Wins First Prize In Talent Show

Milford Ohio Friday night talent show at the school auditorium prize list led by Loveland high senior William Lakes for a piano solo Sabre Dance. Second prize went to Mildred Archer with a vocal solo. Third to Donna Schellenger for baton twirling. Fourth prizes to Sandra Smith and Sigrid Rubenkoenig for vocal solo and recitation.

Two Boys Sentenced By Juvenile Court in Batavia

In Batavia Ohio two teenage youths were sentenced by Probate Judge Orville Halbisch to the Boys Industrial School at Lancaster after being charged with seven break ins at the Farm Bureau office and theft from Charles Shinkle a wholesale gasoline distributor. Chief Ed Colonel and Juvenile Probation Officer Fred Hoh led the arrests.

Cromer Returns From Lima to Face Murder Indictment

Cromer Lee Cromer Jr., 29, of Loveland, was returned from Lima State Hospital by Sheriff Gerald W. Couden and Deputy Al Schwartz on a second degree murder charge. Indicted April 1 by Warren County Grand Jury for allegedly beating his infant step son to death. he pleaded innocent and will be tried after sanity finding.

Clermont County to survey hospital plan and doctor

Batavia Ohio officials select Dr A C Bachmeyer to lead a county survey on building a Clermont County hospital. The Cincinnati born doctor formerly led the Cincinnati College of Medicine and now works with the University of Chicago clinics and teaching hospitals. The survey aims to decide if the November ballot should include the hospital question.

Reactivation of Bethel Civil Air Patrol Squadron Planned

Bethel Ohio CAP plans a June 5 reactivation ceremony in the Grant Memorial Building with 12 senior and 12 cadet officers to be appointed. Local and visiting officers from Ohio Wing Command will attend, and participating squadrons include Blanchester Aberdeen Mt. Healthy Middletown Hamilton Cincinnati and Hillsboro. The event features mock bombing raids and crop-dusting demonstrations at Bethel Airport followed by an organizational meeting and explanation of CAP benefits.

Bethel Man Held on Arson Charge

Clarence B. Eaton, 30, of Bethel, was held on arson charges after a hearing set by Mayor J. F. Paschal. Arrested Thursday on a warrant from state fire marshal investigator Willis Peterson, Eaton pleaded innocent and was jailed after failing to post a $5000 bond. The case stems from a fire destroying the Tabor home on Airport Road and a neighbor’s residence nearby.
