Deadline set for sales tax returns and license revocation warning
Friday May 31 is the filing deadline for sworn affidavits of business conducted January 27 to April 30 under the new sales tax law. Examiners will assist filers at the county treasurer's office through Friday. The state tax commission warns licenses will be revoked if initial data is not filed by June 1 and notes only a small fraction of the 235,000 vendors have filed. No extension will be granted without a written delay request and good cause. State Treasurer Harry S. Day reports $14,455,000 in tax collections for the first four months of operation.

The County Health Board discontinued the services of County Health Commissioner Dr C R Colburn and his secretary Mrs Huling for lack of funds.
