Clermont collected 106,129 in March permissive sales taxes. The state auditor’s office distributes monthly but with a two month lag due to processing. The tax funds day to day operations for counties and regional transit authorities at a one half percent levy.
The Flag Day Luncheon at Mt Carmel on Friday June 13 offers attendees a chance to meet and hear Jim Sete, a candidate for the Staten Island Senate. The event is sponsored by the Union Township Republican Women's Club and local party members. Christine McBride 528-2007.

Batavia Clermont County youth ages 12 to 18 may audition for A Storyteller Spell a 45 minute play blending children's stories Shakespeare and musical comedy. Auditions run weekday afternoons through July 9 at the C G E building Fourth and Spring Street Batavia with eight tour performances at Eastfork and Stonelick State Park locations and show dates through August 2. Tuesday polling runs 6 30 a m to 7 30 p m with choices for delegates and alternates to the national convention. State issues include a cooperative energy amendment and a credit resources measure. Clermont County Board of Mental Retardation projects tax changes for continued services at the Education Center on US 50 near Owensville.
Clermont hears Eastgate Boulevard extension plans running north of SR 32 from Perkins Restaurant to Aicholtz Road. The project would add an overpass over SR 32 with ramps and loops and reconfigure Mall entrance access. Edward Parish supports the proposal while questions arise about 36 acres involved and development donations by Jacobs Visconsi and Jacobs.
Fran Schwiermann reports that Ramundo, an architect from Pierce Township, will become chief enforcement officer at the building department with a $30,000 annual salary funded by building revenue. Wayne C Dunn had resigned as chief in September 1979 but will work part time at $15 per hour.
Public hearing drew no residents or comments on a 2.45 million water works upgrade plan. The project adds PUB plant capacity at Ten Mile Road and SR 52, reed monitoring, a well field, and new wells at New Palestine with bids opening mid June and construction starting late July, aiming for completion in 1981.
At the second EPA public information meeting for O Bannon Creek wastewater, eleven options were shown from do nothing to various central and on site systems. Costs ranged from about 19.3 to 21.2 million for gravity and pumped schemes. EPA said Clermont County Commissioners will choose, with residents asking who selects the alternative.
