Missouri papers report the death of Capt Richard Collins of Piedmont on May 19 102 in Missouri. Born 1836 in Mason County Kentucky he joined the Confederate army becoming a captain of a battery named for him. He practiced law in Higginsville Lafayette and later Piedmont where he built a home and died. He was laid to rest with Confederate Veterans honors.

The annual memorial services of the G A R were held at the M E church last Sunday. The muster was smaller than expected due to illness and death. Mrs H P Brunaugh of Indianapolis sang a solo and Rev Bailey delivered a patriotic sermon. America was sung and a benediction followed with organ music by James Dial and Miss Bessie Walker.
