Bethel halfway house project awaits more data approval
Bethel board of zoning appeals gave no decision on a conditional use for a proposed halfway house for mentally ill persons at a May 19 meeting. Chairman Jerry White said further information would be sought at an evening session May 27 at Grant Memorial. Ged teeesee attended, with the majority opposed. The plan would restrict property use to the proposed purpose only. Dr Steven Katkin and Dr James Wassermann discussed funding from HUD and noted fears of mass patient exodus were unfounded. The home would be Clermont County's first, providing 24 hour supervisory staff for patients released from Longview State Hospital and Rollman Psychiatric Institute as they relearn community living.
