ALL-COUNTY TRACK TEAM NAMED GLEN ESTE WINS MEET

Clermont area high schools dominated the meet with Glen Este scoring 51 points to win. Robert Louderback of Felicity led with 18 points by sweeping the 100 220 and 440 yard dashes. Goshen’s K Voshell earned 14½ with wins and placings in multiple events. New records included M Ammerman pole vault 10 ft 10 in and G Boggs Bethel 16.6 in preliminaries.

Zoning Requests Keep Units Busy

Batavia Township Zoning Commission takes under advisement a Rafalo proposal to rezone 25 acres from agricultural to business for a motel restaurant and service station near an planned Appalachian Highway interchange. The Clermont County planning board advised disapproval until interchange location is fixed. Other hearings cover Mt. Carmel shopping center access concerns and rezoning near Williamsville for a miniature golf course. Deliberations also set for Pierce and Stillmeadow properties as officials plan June hearings.

The Clermont YWCA hosts The Happening a teen coffee house at 55 South Fourth Street Batavia Friday night from 8 to 11. Teens can meet listen to folk and rock groups dance and participate. Grand opening June 9 features The Changing Sounds and a rock band. Admission 50 cents first night. after that Y membership 1.00 yearly with three month tickets for 1.00.

Trustee Archer Knause Dies in Clermont County

Archer Knause 72 longtime Pierce Township trustee died Thursday night after an extended illness at St Mary's Hospital. Services were held Monday at T P White Sons Funeral Home Mt. Washington with burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. He leaves wife Lillie daughters Vera Fulton Shirley Long and sons Eugene Lee and Robert all of Clermont County and 14 grandchildren.

Goshen Warriors Clinch Undefeated CCL Baseball Title

Goshen High School finishes 7–0 in league play and 14–3 overall to claim the CCL championship. Pitcher Terry Bickten goes 6–0 with 98 strikeouts in eight games, and Wayne Woodward 6–1 with 69 strikeouts in six games. Goshen clinched the crown with a 9–1 victory over Batavia, Woodward pitching a four‑hit gem.

Mother and son die in SR 222 crash near Bethel

Betty Ewald 31 and her son Alvin Ewald 12 were killed when a car driven by Richard Horner 32 left SR 222 and hit an embankment. Passenger Jo Ann Peak 27 was treated at Brown County Hospital. Horner faces reckless operation charges. Funeral services for Betty and Alvin were held at Kennedy-Stevens Funeral Home.
