Commencement Exercises At Batavia School Impress Audience

A near full town hall witnessed Batavia schools’ commencement with a program including Glory of the Yankee Pole, an oration on Money, diplomas awarded by W A Joseph, a scholarship to Dawson Bradley, Merchant of Venice Up-to-Date, and praised performances by the Batavia orchestra.

Birthday collection boosts church repairs fund

The German A. B. church reopened on May 15 with strong attendance and spiritual aid. The Sunday school birthday collection reached 60.12 dollars, and the morning and evening services raised 120.62 dollars. In seven months Pastor Wegner secured over 1200 dollars for church and parsonage repairs. The Ohio German conference Y P C U and Sunday school meet in Batavia from June 9 to 12.

Milford High School Commencement and Alumni Banquet

Milford High School will hold its commencement tomorrow evening with a program including music and a march. The alumni banquet on Friday May 2 honored the class of 1910 with Judge James B. Swing of Cincinnati delivering the address and Eli H. Speidel of Batavia giving the welcome.

Georgetown resident C. D. Lyon writes to the Courier praising Halley s comet as a sign of good fortune rather than evil. He recalls a broken turkey egg incident and notes neighbors used the omen to reflect, read their Bibles, and wipe away microbes, hoping for another comet next year.

Splendid Batavia School Exhibit Delights Local Visitors

Parents and others attended Batavia schools art and industrial exhibit last Friday afternoon from two to three thirty. Pupils displayed handiwork showing instructors fostered useful knowledge and early development toward future achievement in art. Visitors were welcomed by superintendent and teachers as the 1910 exhibit sought to awaken deeper interest and pride in school work.

Batavia Urges General Cleaning Up of Streets
