Warnings rise as Ohio belt law takes hold
Ohio troopers report about 20 warnings in 16 weeks to unbelted motorists and passengers. Officials cite a 29 percent rise in belt use during the first four months of the year versus 1985 and note nine weekend fatalities in which none wore belts. The highway patrol plans to issue citations after a two month grace period and expands driver education to boost voluntary compliance.
