Clermont Writers Feted At Batavia Literary Tea

Poetry and fiction honored at a Batavia tea by the Woman's Club and Ohioana Library Association on May 13 at United Methodist Church. Audrey Murdock and Josephine Johnson Cannon were among the honorees with several local women and men listed as attendees and speakers.

Goshen Woman Killed In Crash

Katherine Templeton 63 of Goshen Pike was killed in a head on crash on Guinea Pike near SR 28 east of Milford. Her daughter Juanita Ferrell 46, in the other car, is in fair condition. Charges filed against John B. Blankenship 39 for manslaughter and drunken driving.

County commissioners approve a temporary courtroom in the courthouse annex conference room on Main Street Batavia at the request of Judges Rosenhoffer Carlier and Erhardt The room will be used when court is not in session They seek a new courtroom adjacent to the Clerk of Courts office plus better recording equipment and a dictating machine Russell L Simmons urges funds for an additional records employee due to a caseload boom with over 5000 cases by year end He notes about 92183 in funds costs and bond forfeitures have largely gone to the county
