Mt Sterling man reports daylight carjacking near Orient
Earl Maddix of Mt Sterling told Sheriff Gump in Columbus on Saturday that he and a companion were held up near Orient by two young men after offering a ride in his car. One suspect produced a revolver and forced them from the vehicle before fleeing toward Columbus. Deputy sheriffs James Moeller and Patrick led the investigation.

Large Milford whisky stills seized on Milford road
Milford deputies captured one of the largest stills ever seen in Milford. A 400 gallon still and a 75 gallon still were hauled in by Marshal Pierson along with 2600 gallons of mash 87 gallons of whiskey and 50 pounds of yeast. Mrs Pauline Hamer identified as proprietor of the apparatus on the Milford and Glendale pike. Other cases heard in Milford court last week ended with higher village treasury proceeds.

Columbus Ohio May 13 The attorney general ruled county auditors cannot discharge prisoners from county jails under the pauper section when committed for non payment of fines under the Crabbe prohibition law. He said the state share of the fine makes discharge prohibited. He also ruled county authorities cannot refund taxes on securities listed at par that were worth less at return time.
