Obituary: Mrs Julia Stone in Bethel dies at 63
Mrs Julia Stone died at her Gethel home on May 12 1897 in her 64th year. She was born April 30 1833 and married Herman Stone November 2 1854. Survived by three living children William Stone Mrs Charles Fagley and Mrs Edward Harmon. Buried from Bethel Christian church May 14 led by Elder Lockwood. Her husband was brother of Mrs Abram Hulick and Miss Melle Stone. She had suffered twenty years.

A wealthy farmer and lawyer, he recently joined the M E church and was a leading, generous citizen. He leaves a widow and six children. funeral set for 2 pm Thursday under Masonic direction.

David White of Mt Pisgah, Batavia area, is touted as Clermont’s oldest taxpayer. At ninety-one he still visits the treasury, showing a 1830 receipt signed by Thomas Kain for taxes on two horses and two cattle.
