At a Bethel meeting on May 13 Clermont County Agricultural Society members voted unanimously to back keeping the Owensville Experiment Farm from closing. The farm faces sale by October 1 with a committee to rally local farm families if county residents favor preservation.

Man Bound Over To Grand Jury On Cutting Charge

Justice of the Peace A. C. Mundew bound Joseph Crawford Glen Este over to the Clermont County grand jury Monday night May 15 on charges of cutting with intent to kill. Crawford attacked John Reynolds a bartender at Brickner's Tavern on Cincinnati. They were taken to the Clermont County jail with bond set at 300 dollars each on charges of stealing chickens from George Weider near Edenton. Each received a fine of 100 dollars and three months in jail for taking a car battery from Earl Price Edenton.

Road funding and road changes approved by Clermont County

Clermont County Commissioners at the Courthouse voted to allot 260 from gas tax funds to Union Township trustees for oil treatment of Deickman Lane under the County Engineer. An additional 200 was given to Washington Township trustees to grade Big Indian Creek Road on Tower property. a 150 right of way may be purchased. They also signed a 290 square foot PMA annex rental and William Rumpke bought the Stonelick Bridge for 100 to remove within ten days.

Clermont County poets publish Heart Songs book

Mrs. Edna Hamilton of Cincinnati presents the first copy to Harry Halbisch of Batavia at a Clermont Courier event on May 14 at the Coney Island Clubhouse. The limited edition features winning poems from a county contest plus selections by Hamilton and Sheila Stinson. Ritual by Halbisch won first place with branches of second and honorable mentions noted.

Locked Front Wheel Causes Accident

An accident near Amelia on Saturday May 13 involving Carl L Rohling and Cecil Wallace was caused by a locked front wheel on Rohling s car. Passengers Pat Nancy and Jimmy Rohling were bruised and cut slightly. Deputy Sheriff Marvin Bissantz investigated.

Amelia High School Triumphs In Regional Baseball

Kenny Gaskins hurled two shutouts as Amelia defeated Eaton 5 0 in Dayton Ohio on May 17. The two hit pitcher fanned 13 batters in a complete game victory earning Amelia a spot in the state finals at Columbus May 2. Amburgey caught with a broken finger as Amelia extended its Southwestern District title run under Coach Stanley Anstaett.

Five Year Old Boy Rescued From Well by Father and Uncles

Johnny Pucket five year old son of Mr and Mrs Michael Pucket of Starling Road near Beth el was saved from drowning Sunday May 14 by his father and uncles John Eversole and Seldon Burns after falling into an open well on William Wilson's property in Wiggonsville. The men formed a human chain to pull him to safety as Wilson cited missing iron manhole cover over the well.
