Memorial Day Services to Be Held at Local Cemeteries

The Frank W. Weaver Post of the American Legion will lead Memorial Day exercises at Batavia Owensville and Old Bethel cemeteries. Services at Owensville and Old Bethel start at 1 6 a m on Wednesday May 30 with Batavia events at 2 00 p m at the Armory followed by a parade to the cemetery where Judge Robert Marx of Cincinnati will speak. Graves will be decorated and a firing squad provided at each site. bands perform during a half hour interval. retreat at the Court House marks day’s end. Laurel service May 30 at 1 30 p m features Eli e Speidel, La Laurel and Amelia readings and orchestra. Olive Branch M E church holds Memorial Day May 27 at 2 p m with Rev. Riley speaking.

May 20 Opens Summer Amusement Season With Vast Attractions

John Binkley and Christel Walker Wed in Williamsburg

Last Thursday evening at the bride's home on Fifth and Main Streets in Williamsburg C, John Binkley and Miss Christel Walker were married. Rev. Anderson of the United Brethren Church performed the ceremony under a fern and lilac arch. A supper for forty five relatives and friends followed the ceremony. The couple will reside in Williamsburg.

Legion Sponsors Batavia Band Concerts This Summer

The Frank W. Weaver Post of the American Legion will sponsor Batavia band concerts this year. Legion committees will solicit funds to compensate the season's work and post contributor names in Nash's Drug Store window. The Legion will collect while the band plays, with opening night to be announced later.

Funeral rites for Mrs Anna Dickinson Townsley

Former Clermonter Mrs Anna Dickinson Townsley wife of Dr Hd Townsley of Linwood died at 64 after a month long illness. Funeral services were held Monday at Linwood Baptist church with burial at Newtonsville. She was well known in Batavia and her father once supervised the county home.

Walter W. Miller died May 1 1928 at age 68 of Felicity Ohio born July 25 1859 on a farm near Felicity son of Samuel and Julia Miller husband of Ella May Miller father of Cary and Grace with grandchildren Cary Jr Jean Mary and Robert Waters survived by siblings in laws and a sister in law. He joined Christian Church of Mount Pleasant later transferring to Felicity Presbyterian Church and held memberships in Knights of Pythian Masonic Odd Fellows and other societies noted as a generous neighbor and family provider with a life of good deeds and faith.

Obituary of Max Sprinz of Norwood Ohio

Max Sprinz born September 30 1841 in Ravensburg Württemberg died May 9 1928 in Norwood Ohio aged 86 years 8 months 9 days after a sudden accident. He immigrated to the United States in 1864 married Margaret Erther in 1868 and lived in Norwood with his daughter Mrs. Wm Parrish. Survived by sons Charles Springfield and John Elmwood Place and daughters Margaret Carter Elmwood Place Agnes Parrish Norwood. He was a lifelong reader of the Bible and a devout Christian and he will be remembered as a loyal citizen and honest man.
