Town Promotion Groups Chosen in New Richmond Meeting

New Richmond organizers formed three five member committees to promote the riverside town. The publicity group is led by George Wehmann with members Dick Mauk Clyde Tomlin Rev Don Smith and Nick Wolf. The planning and housing panel aims to attract new industry and arrange rental properties. An additional parking committee includes Charles McClanahan Bud Rattner and Clyde Tomlin to prepare rear Front Street areas for shoppers. Debbie Luckey, daughter of Mr and Mrs W S Luckey, will appear on WCPO TV School For Talent on May 17 and May 15 at Bethel High School.

Felicity Senior Wins $500 From Insurance Agents

Gloria Jean Henize, 17, of Felicity, won a $500 scholarship from the Clermont County Association of Insurance Agents. Alternate winners are Kerry Dennis Tarvin and Raymond Grueninger. The panel reviewed 23 candidates from local high schools and noted Henize plans to attend Wilmington College for secondary education. Tarvin aims for Miami University to study education and Grueninger will pursue chemical engineering at the University of Cincinnati.

State Turns Down Road Swap Plan

The State Highway Department rejected a county plan for a mile for mile swap of 13.35 miles of county roads for 11.31 miles of Rt. 756 from Rt. 132 to the Brown County line. Officials cited dead ends and the county’s obligation to furnish 60 ft rights of way as reasons, and noted the county should establish Shepherd in Union and Maple Drive in Williamsburg as public roads.

Mace to file report on June 1 water system study

Clermont County Commissioner Harlan Mace said his report on the Miami Goshen Stonelick Water System feasibility will be ready around June 1. He stressed patience, noting bond sales hinge on the findings and proposing possible deferral of an administration building to save about 24000. He also discussed tank capacities, flood considerations, and interconnection plans.

At a special meeting the Clermont County Planning Commission voted 7 to 2 to accept John Reed Jr.'s resignation as executive director. Reed's departure followed a tense session with commissioners debating work issues and personalities.

Two Clermont ROTC Cadets Honored At UC Review

Clermont County Army ROTC cadets at the University of Cincinnati were honored May 7 during the president's review in Nippert Memorial Stadium. Roger L. McKenzie of Williamsburg received the Cincinnati Post and Times-Star award for journalistic endeavor contributing to the military arts, and Richard W. Emmert of Amelia earned the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association medal.

County Planning Director Resigns in Piermont

John B. Reed Jr. resigns as Piermont County Planning Director after two years of operation. He began duties November 24 with a $7 500 salary and cited circumstances beyond his control. Reed, 40, is a William and Mary MBA graduate with a Virginia Tech engineering degree and planning experience in St Petersburg Birmingham and Pittsburgh.

Former Milford Mayor Apparent Death by Own Action

LYBANON Former Milford Mayor Ansel G. Riker, 70, was found dead Tuesday in his car at the Jo El Motel near Fosters. The Warren County coroner ruled carbon monoxide poisoning from a hose connected from the exhaust into the trunk. Motel owner Elma Desserich said Riker appeared despondent earlier and was seen in the car with the engine running at 3 30 p.m. He is survived by two daughters, Neema Liming and Audrey Martin. Funeral arrangements incomplete.

County Seeks Bids for New Sheriff Patrol Car
