Three Hurt As Trailer Hits Car
NEW RICHMOND Three persons were injured Sunday evening when a semi trailer crashed into a car on US 52 about 142 miles east of here. Jess Reed 25 of Point Pleasant suffered a compound fracture to his left knee and arm, his wife had multiple body abrasions and her son Michael Smith fractured his left leg. Stanley E Gross 43 of Cincinnati driver of the truck attempted to pass another car and struck the westbound vehicle.

Former Clermont County Treasurer John P. Friend Jr. of Batavia faces three grand jury indictments totaling 21 counts of embezzling 52 217 08 in public funds after state examiners disclosed a office shortage March 16. He posted 55 000 bond and pleaded not guilty. Also charged in a separate indictment is ex Justice of the Peace Homer Ernst with two counts of embezzlement in court costs totaling 25 27.39 and 937 80. Other indictments named Gene Liming Walter Higbee Herman Canter and several others with varied charges. The jury left out several others from the list.
