State FFA honors three Felicity Franklin students in Columbus

Three Felicity Franklin FFA I Chapter members John Fisher Joe Liming and Rick Houser received the State Farmers Degree in Columbus on April 23. The award marks the highest state FFA honor reserved for about two percent of Ohio Future Farmers.

Clermont County Eyes Bond Vote for 100-Bed Hospital

The Clermont County Hospital Citizens Committee urges the county commissioners to place a $3,100,000 bond issue and a two year tax levy on the ballot to fund a 100 bed hospital. Plans allocate $100,000 land $450,000 equipment $2,550,000 design and construction. The levy would cover operating costs until first billings are paid at $35 daily. State aid under the Hill-Burton Act may help retire debt or fund improvements. The board will meet with the hospital committee and prosecuting attorney before action. Dr Edward H Hake named director of the county anti poverty dental clinic effective May 2. Commissioners approve road sign and plan to bury seven miles of cable for regional phone service preparations.

New Richmond Man Killed in Clermont County Crash

The eighth traffic fatality of the year in Clermont County occurred at 1 a.m. Monday when Charles O. Gregor, 22, of New Richmond, drove east on U S 02 and crossed left of center, colliding head on with a tractor trailer driven by Billy C. Winsted, 35, of Cincinnati who was not seriously injured. Gregor, a draftsman at Cincinnati Milling Machine Co., is survived by his parents. Services set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Church New Richmond.

Dam Would Assure Water Supply Through Year 2020

East Fork Reservoir proposed at 21 million dollars would secure water supply and leisure use for the area through the year 2020. Residents of Clermont County would decide its fate by letters to Washington urging the restoration of 600 thousand dollars in federal funding. Dieckmann Ordean and Schwartz outlined land purchase plans and answered questions at a Friday meeting, citing flood and pollution concerns and following Vogt Ivers engineers.

Construction of Cincinnati Gas & Electric Unit Six at Walter C. Beckford Station near New Richmond proceeds with boat access due to river flooding. Services Today For Edmund Glenn Burke

Edmund Glenn Burke 88 formerly of Bethel and a New York City real estate developer will be mourned at Bethel Baptist Church in a Thursday service at 11 a.m. A police escorted procession will proceed to Old Bethel Cemetery. Burke donated Burke Park to the village and gave funds to a life squad ambulance and a Bethel swimming pool project. He is survived by his wife Karlene Burke.

Glen Este and Batavia dominate Clermont County Track Meet

Clermont County Track and Field Meet results show Glen Este junior high 52.5 points and Batavia high school 63.5 in titles. Winners include Keller Glen Este 100 yd dash and Kreimer Owensville 440 yd dash with Amelia relay triumphs. Batavia’s Ogletree earns outstanding track award with 19.5 points. All County Team lists D Ogletree v Smith J Ogletree M Haskell and others. Clermont County also reports 320 465 dollars in Aid for Dependent Children funds from state and federal sources over 10 months.

Officials Offer Covered Bridge Move or Salvage

Clermont County considers moving the Jackson Pike covered bridge near Williamsburg to allow road work and a bridge replacement. The county would dismantle and mark the structure for relocation if preservation groups wish to save it.
