Seniors Entertained by Batavia High Junior Class

The Batavia High School junior class hosted the seniors last Thursday evening in the armory hall with cedar and palms decor, an orange lemon tree display, a long candlelit table, and a banquet. Winners included Clara Johnson for the flower contest, George Bauer for the drawing contest, and Calvin Cramer for the word contest. Attendees listed include Dawson Bradley, Alice Mead, James Fishback, Maude Horn, George Bauer, and many others plus Mr. and Mrs. Louis K. Oppits.

Mothers' Day services praised at M. E. church

The M. E. church Mothers' Day observance was called inspirational by Rev. Burdsall and participants benefited greatly. Batavia High School’s baseball team traveled to Milford and lost 9 6 after a hard fought game with Milford High School. Weather halted Saturday plans for Dayton Kentucky and Northern Clermont Stars, with the Harwoods of Cincinnati slated to play Batavia Park next Saturday if weather allows.

Word Building Contest Winners Named by Keystone Flour

Last winter Keystone Flour held a word building contest awarding prizes for the most words formed from the name Keystone Flour. M. J. Kain, deputy auditor, had the largest list with 1,098 words, followed by Attorney C. C. Kearns and Prof. A. L. Turnipseed of New Richmond in close order. Other Clermont residents also succeeded.

Supt Louis Oppitz Resigns Batavia School Post

Supt Louis K Oppitz tendered his resignation to the Batavia school board effective with the close of the term. He will join Lebanon University as professor of science and mathematics and plans to study analytical chemistry at Chicago University in June. His Batavia tenure 1909-10 was highly regarded by teachers and patrons, and the community wishes him success in future education work.

Missing Application Delays Amelia School Board Chosen Teachers

Last Tuesday the Amelia Board of Education met to elect teachers for 1910 14. One application was found missing that of Miss Ivy Hutson a popular and efficient teacher who has served the public for twelve years.
