River clean up moves to river bank across area

Volunteers in the Little Miami Valley prepare for a first riverwide clean up across 108 miles of the river from Milford to Cincinnati. May 13 14 9 am to 6 pm with LMS coordinators Jay Leibovitz and Don Hopkins overseeing sections lower middle and upper. Safety rules and private property respect will guide the effort. Milford Manager Resigns Amid Salary Dispute and Fallout

The Milford council met in an April 24 closed session to discuss manager Shew’s resignation and to review salary ordinances. Acting finance director Kathy Haitz cited an $11,000 deficit and said no appropriation could cover raises. Councilwoman Haight criticized the salary plan while noting a new executive secretary earning more than the tax commissioner. A May 2 statement from Councilman Goodman decried personal attacks as resignation talks continued and development plans faced questions.

Larry Ralston to undergo psychiatric evaluation after guilty verdict

Larry Ralston was found guilty last week in the death of 15 year old Elgina Bear. He will spend 60 days under psychiatric examination at Lima State Hospital before sentencing in Clermont County Court before Judge Ralph A. Hill. Jury deliberated seven and a half hours. Ralston showed no emotion. defense plans an appeal posted last Thursday.
