Norma Kincaid Named Batavia Citizen of the Year

Norma Kincaid of 4220 Roselawn Ave Batavia was named 1972 Citizen of the Year by the Batavia Businessmen's Association for fostering ten severely handicapped children over 11 years. She works with the Hamilton County Welfare Departments foster care program. The honor began in 1961 with a traveling engraved cup.

Fresh Gulf crabmeat visits Clermont County residents

Grace and Charlie Spaeth of Goshen enjoy fresh crabmeat delivered from the Gulf of Mexico via Edward and Viola Williams of Indianola Texas during a shared month long fishing visit. Williams son Walter serves as Loveland councilman and the family split time between Florida and Ohio in summer.

International Paper Box Machine acquires Multifold Milford

The International Paper Box Machine Company of Nashua New Hampshire acquires Multifold Inc Milford for an undisclosed price. President Philip D Labombarde says the merger expands feeder stacker bundler and high speed folding gluing capabilities to provide efficient production lines. The Milford operation continues with current staff and aims to boost productivity and career opportunities.

County GOP Views Clermont College Hearing May 10

Clermont General and Technical College Dean Edith Peters will host a Clermont County Republican Club meeting on Thursday May 10 at 8 p.m. at the college on College Drive overlooking Batavia. Miami Township and Riverside Republican clubs join as guests.

Head On Collision Kills Bethel Man in Brown County

A head on crash on Cumberland Road south of Ohio 32 in Brown County killed a Bethel man early Saturday. Injured were Mildred L. Highland 40 and Mrs Ruth A. Kewell 49 in Mt. Healthy. driver of the other car identified as Mr Crab and Nash’s wife Hazel Nash 41. Surviving relatives include two daughters Christine Bailey and Teresa Nash two sons Ernest and Kenneth Nash two brothers Ralph and Robert Nash and two sisters Martha Drew and Bernice McKenzie. Burial followed at Old Bethel Cemetery with funeral services at Mt. Washington.

Nursing Home and Office Zones Approved Near Clermont County Hospital

The township rezoned 32.183 acres around Hodges planned nursing home to B-1 and 67.45 acres along Appalachian Highway to B-2 while 10.571 acres adjacent to the hospital stayed agriculture. Developers push for B-1 across Hodges site to allow a nursing home and doctors offices with opposition from the Clermont County Hospital Commission over extended facilities and drive-in theatre risk. Residents mostly supported the change.

Developers win some and lose some before county planning group

The planning commission gave preliminary approval to Fireside Realty's Hickory Hollow Farms project of 252 lots on 102.98 acres near Branch Hill Guinea Pike, with revisions to the internal street system. It also approved LaDecor Shoppe's Timber Woods subdivision 24 lots on 15.3 acres, plus Deena Estates 36 building lots. Brockman faced mixed reception for Tree Tops five acre lot plan. Marbro Builders failed on zone changes for 149 and 59 acres. Wolfer gained partial approval for a mixed urban residential and business rezone on US 50. Hogg's Goshen Township butcher shop on 8 acres approved. Tate Township commercial rezoning for 92 acres not recommended. F. Jerome Fix proposed a commercial warehouse.

In the special election voters show five of eight state and school bond issues fail while three pass. Results list yes and no tallies for state amendments including lottery authorization and property seizure, plus school district bonds and levies across Clermont and surrounding townships.

Sue Porter Joins The Courier Staff

Sue Porter joins Clermont Courier as associate editor and editor of The Williamsburg Times succeeding Eloise Ellis who retired. She studied at Defiance College and UC evening college and will work full time at The Courier while covering communities with her camera and notepad.
