Cler mont County Sunday School Association held its opening session on May 8 in the Williamsburg Methodist church with President J. L. Anderson presiding. Speakers included Rev. Burdsall Rev. Sperow Rev. Loucks Rev. Smith and Mr. Edgar. The event featured talks on religious education and unity of associations. New officers were named for next year and the group planned to hold next year’s meeting at Bethel.

Rabid Dog Quarantine Near Batavia After Child Bite
A stray hound entered Batavia last Wednesday and bit three year old Jane Carter on the nose lip and hand though not seriously. The dog, killed after acting strangely, was sent to Columbus for rabies testing and the board reported likely rabies. The mayor issued a three month dog quarantine to protect residents and animals.

County Education Board Rehires Superintendent Pattison
The County Board of Education met May 7 in regular session and transacted routine business. Transportation bills were read and sent back for correction. After considering petitions for and against an assistant county superintendent, the board decided to re-employ Supt H Pattison for three years in line with other progressive counties.

The Batavia Township School Board met in Batavia on Saturday and cleared the agenda for the teaching season, noting teachers’ last pay under law which restricts employment to four months before the school year. The Batavia Women's Club gathered at Mrs W O Robinson’s home, approving a large annual program and new library acquisitions including The Evil Shepherd and The Shadow of the East.

Clermont Farm Bureau notes scab disease as the most serious threat to apples last year and likely again this year. Heavy rains trigger infections. unsprayed trees risk severe infestation. Growers with pink or pre pink sprays should watch for next year. Bordeaux 3-6-50 or Lime Sulphur 1-30 recommended for control. A regional committee from Ohio Indiana Kentucky meets May 10 11 at Gibson Hotel to plan a cooperative livestock commission in Cincinnati with Walton Peteet expected. Announcement will follow.
