Tentative approval granted for village growth project
The council and planning commission approve a development plan to double Amelia’s population featuring open space and no sidewalks, with a shopping center, office buildings, a community swim and tennis club, rental apartments, and three to four bedroom single family homes priced at 22 000 to 30 000 dollars. Apartments would be one to two bedrooms with at least one and a half baths. Public hearings on revenue sharing funds are set for Monday at 7 30 p.m. Zoning rules become effective this week and the fire siren has been repaired.

Milford youth stabbing case hearing postponed to Friday
A 15 year old Milford boy charged in the April 28 slaying of Wanda Abramis had his juvenile court hearing postponed from Monday and rescheduled for Friday. Prosecutor Robert Jones sought extra time to present the case. The closed 9 a.m. hearing in Clermont County Juvenile Court will consider psychiatric evaluation and potential transfer to adult court. Abramis, 51, owner of a Main Street variety store, died from stab wounds. her daughter Karen was present at the shop.

Nursing inn planned beside Clermont County Hospital site
Jerald Fortney reports a 1.25 million nursing inn to be built on ten acres near Clermont County Hospital on Harold Road east of Batavia. Groundbreaking is set for July with first phase due in about a year. Harold Hodges, owner of Clermont Nursing and Convalescent Home in Mulberry, leads the project and notes amenities including beauty shop and hydrotherapy for skilled care. He now lives in Newark and is son of the late Burton Hodges, former Clermont County recorder and Williamsburg police chief.
