Elizabeth Emma Huling of Clermont County is featured as the Courier’s first community correspondent. Born July 21 1891 in New Richmond she lived on a farm in Amelia, studied in Cincinnati, and worked as a bookkeeper before marrying Earl C. Huling. She has written for the Courier and is active in church PTA and band circles while caring for her ill husband and raising son George Earl.

Major Robert L. Cardenas, a Wright-Patterson Air Force Base test pilot, will address Explorer Scouts at Batavia courthouse at 8 p m on May 10. Bus Trip to Coney Island via Courier Day Planned
The Courier may charter buses to Coney Island on Sunday May 14 if enough demand exists. One bus would depart Batavia and another from Amelia around 1 30 p m, returning after the fireworks. Each bus seats about 35 with some standing room. A 25 cent round trip passenger fee, Courier covers the rest, and Crosewell Bus Lines may provide service if interest is sufficient. Milford Exempted Village School District announced sale of bonds totaling 160000 dollars at 2.25 percent, maturing 1951 to 1970. J A White and Co of Cincinnati purchased the issue and paid a 3299 dollar premium. Bonds were authorized at a March 28 special election to fund a Milford School addition.
