A stranger named Burns passed a forged check at a Bethel merchant days ago after examining the field and running short of money. He paid for goods with part change and fled with no intention of returning for the balance. Victims Hutson Beck and Beck are still waiting for him. beware of strangers.

Bridge Luncheon at Mrs Hitchcock’s Home Near Amelia

Mrs Hitchcock and Mrs Edwards hosted a bridge luncheon at the former’s Amelia area residence last Wednesday. Preschool Roundups Planned Across Clermont County

The county will host Preschool Roundups in late May 1932 across communities including Williamsburg Mulberry Mt Carmel New Richmond Felicity and Bethel. In cooperation with health boards and parent teacher associations, the events provide free medical exams and literature with reports to parents and family physicians for follow up.

Donnie Johns Named Superintendent of Bell Phone in Clermont County

Donnie Johns of Batavia became superintendent of the Bell Phone Company in Clermont County succeeding Charles Curry after years of service. Johns has long worked for the company in various roles and is popular with staff. Headquarters reportedly may move back to Batavia.

Anniversary Honors Odd Fellows in Newtonsville and Felicity

The 118th anniversary of Odd Fellows was celebrated in Newtonsville on Saturday April 30 with an all day program. Rev L G Ludwick of Batavia gave the morning address and W A Williamson of Toledo spoke in the afternoon. A Community orchestra performed and a large dinner was served at the IOOF hall. Evening services at Felicity followed with Ludwick delivering another address. Brice Hendrixson sang, Dorothy Ludwick and Orpha Wood performed, and homemade ice cream and cake were served. Batavia Grange to confer 3rd and 4th degree on May 6 with a new drill and welcome visitors.

Judge Clarence N. Young resigns from the Clermont County Board of Health and Advisory Board. Ted Robinson is chosen to succeed him as term ends. The board urges strict economy in the 1983 budget and salary cuts for the Health Commissioner and Public Health Nurse to 600 dollars plus travel expenses. The Route 182 one way bridge between Batavia and Owensville over Backbone will be removed and replaced with a new structure as state work.

Batavia and Mt Carmel opened the season at Mt Carmel in a 15 inning game cut short at darkness with a 9 to 9 score. Batavia piled 23 hits off Philhower while Mt Carmel had 16 off Moler. Mc Ghehey led Batavia with a 4 for 8 day including a triple and 2 doubles. Next Sunday Bethel visits Batavia as Batavia and Bethel feature sluggers and Moler faces Duncan.

Reynolds Couple Celebrate 25th Anniversary

Forty four friends gathered at the Reynolds home near Monterey on Wednesday evening April 20 to mark 26 hours since the wedding. A lunch of sandwiches pie and coffee followed. The couple received silver and best wishes for another quarter century of marriage.

Auto Crash Near Summit School House Injures Cincinnati Party

Sunday afternoon an auto accident occurred above Batavia near Summit school house. The Cincinnati occupants Mrs O Bent le and her daughter were inside when a small honey bee entered the car causing the driver to lose control and wreck the vehicle injuring all aboard. Farm Bureau Plans Meetings Next Week in Olive Branch Locust Corner and Penptown

Regular Farm Bureau meetings are set for Olive Branch Church on May 9 at 8 p m with speaker W H Aufranec of Butler County discussing Livestock Marketing. Locust Corner Hall hosts May 10 at 8 p m and Perintown School on May 12 at 8 p m with reports on tax reduction efforts and budget hearings. Death of Miss Belle Marsh at 77

Miss Belle Marsh aged 77 died at her home Sunday evening after a fall and a recent auto accident. She leaves three sisters, Mrs. Gatch of Milford, Mrs. Seaman of Dayton, and Mrs. Lane of Batavia. Funeral services were held today at the M. E. church with burial at Owensville.

Peter Pan 4-H Club Holds Fifth Meeting

The Peter Pan 4-H Club held its fifth gathering at Thelma Miller's home on Saturday April 23. Members decided on their projects, including flower gardens, and discussed details. Refreshments followed before adjourning to meet Virginia Crowder's home on May 7.

Wayne Grange Edenton Accepts Class Of Eight

Wayne Grange at Edenton enrolled a class of eight candidates including seven young men and one young lady. Visitors Nobis and Wilson shared moving pictures and talks at the last meeting. A luncheon followed, and the next meeting on May 18 will feature a free program and small fee for lunch open to the public and other Granges. At Miami University April 27 John Kramer of Batavia, a sophomore in education, was elected to the Student Faculty Council.
