Old Man of Seventy Jailed on Assault Charge in Amelia
David L. Reeves, 70, was committed to jail in Amelia in default of $500 bond on a charge of criminal assault against a six year old child. The arrest followed the mother's report and waiving examination before Mayor Lease. Mrs Emma Reeves is the mother. Marshall McCann placed him in jail.

Passing of a Pioneer Joseph T Whittaker Dies at Amelia
The Courier reports the death of Joseph T Whittaker of Amelia on April 30 1906 at age 87. Born in Batavia in 1819 he lived in Clermont County most of his life as a farmer. He married Rosanna Wagerman in 1844 and leaves two sons Frank and Melvin and three daughters Mrs McGowan Mrs Hicks and another, plus grandchildren. A Republican and ME church member he was noted for generosity and lifelong newspaper reading. Funeral at his residence at 2:00 this afternoon.
