Clermont County’s First War Casualty To Be Released

Howard Hamilton, 21, Clermont County’s first soldier wounded in Korea, will be discharged at Camp Breckenridge, Ky. His enlistment expired. he was hit by mortar fragments on July 14, 1960 after his unit diverged from the 24th Division. Hamilton landed in Korea July 1 after the war began. He is a Batavia High School graduate.

Patrons Oppose Consolidation of Clermont School Districts

In Batavia Ohio a meeting of Clermont County boards discussed merging Newtonsville and Goshen districts aided by a $100000 state grant to Goshen. Newtonsville supporters voted to keep the district unchanged and continue sending students to Milford High School.

Three Injured In Triple Crash East Of Milford

Deputy reports a three car wreck on Ohio 28 one half mile east of Milford injuring Carl Candler 24 and his wife Pauline with facial and ankle injuries. Mrs Bowman minor injuries and liquor found in Candlers car led to pursuit toward Milford. Ludlum uninjured as his car was hit head on by the Candler convertible.

Land owner seeks cattle pass as route widening stalls

Clermont County officials ask Ray Bradford to begin land condemnation to push Amos H. Preston to take 344 dollars for half an acre needed to widen Route 756 in Washington township. Preston wants a cattle pass built under the road at county expense, claiming a prior 100 percent right of way was granted without his consent.
