Egg Hunt Scenes Youth Accused In Beating and Theft

Four juveniles faced a 10 am hearing in juvenile court on delinquency charges after police say five youths split 93 dollars taken from Buxton. Buxton had been hospitalized March 21 after an alleged beating. Bethel Police Chief Robert Wilson led the arrests.

Flasher Light Planned for Busy Willowville Intersection

Wilowville officials announce a new flasher at the Rt 32 and old Rt 74 intersection. Two existing stop and go lights remain at Mt Carmel Rd and Summerside plus a Summerside Rd flasher. State official Simmons says four one way bridges on Rt 756 between Felicity and the Ohio River will be replaced and abandoned wells on state right of way are being filled. A guardrail painting program with Batavia and Chile is funded half by the villages.

School Bus Safety Roadeo Set April 8

Clarksville hosts the third annual School Bus Safety Roadeo for Southwest District drivers at Clinton Massie High School on Saturday April 8 starting at 9 am. Winners in each class advance to Columbus May 13 for the state finals at Worthington High School.

Court introduces two innovations in Clermont County

Clermont County Common Pleas Court announces April 1 effective changes. A Bureau of Support will empower chief investigator Harry Tyson to cite for contempt those failing to provide court ordered support, shifting enforcement from wives to the responsible party. A jury selection method uses a juror data card to reduce questions and speed up seating, aiming to cut time in half. Erie County already has the system with a 57.7 percent increase in collected payments.

Court Dismisses Charges Against Five Dog Owners

Clermont County Court Judge Ralph A. Hill dismissed charges against five Cherry Grove men for allowing their dogs to run at large. The ruling cited technical errors in affidavits such as missing dates and conflicts with state statutes. Boy 6 Dies In Easter Fire

New Richmond reports a fatal Easter morning fire at 1001 Front St. that claimed the life of 6 year old Charles L. Scheffler Jr. despite attempts by his father Charles L. Scheffler Sr. and Police Chief John Van Camp to rescue him from the second floor. Chief Van Camp spotted smoke, alerted residents, and aided the effort as the New Richmond Fire Department arrived.

Bids Sought On Gasoline Tank In Glen Este Township

Glen Este Township Trustees invite bids to furnish a 1000 gallon gasoline tank with electric pump and line for a year and month to month thereafter. Bids due by 7 pm April 11 to Board Clerk Lois Donnellon 4445 Mt Carmel Tabasco Rd Mt Carmel. A separate report notes a fuel oil tank explosion caused a building fire and a boy’s body was later taken to Lew F White Memorial Funeral Home for 2 pm services with burial at Greenmound Cemetery.

D X Ranch Celebrates 18th Anniversary in Clermont County

The D X Ranch marks its 18th year as a noted restaurant in Clermont County. Tom and Carma Dix founded the eatery and are now retired in Florida. Their daughter Gayle Purseley and son-in-law Pauline Purseley with Erma McCoy operate the venue, welcoming thousands of guests since opening.
