Goshen Boy 6 In Critical Condition From Accidental Drug Overdose

Six year old Mark Stringer of Gaslight Village Goshen was hospitalized in critical condition after an accidental overdose of Valium and tranquilizers. Sheriff investigators found large quantities of unprotected drugs in more than 100 homes as part of a probe into medicines accessible to children.

New Bill May Aid Clermont Courts

Legislation in the Ohio House could help Clermont County Court judges fill juries for four county courts. The bill, introduced by Senator William H. Massey at the request of Prosecuting Attorney Robert A. Jones, would lift a 30 day service restriction and has Senate passage. Jones testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the need for the bill.

Damages Denied In Morgan Death Suit

Mrs Darlene Morgan Bolender widow of Jackie Morgan Felicity filed an $80000 damage suit against Elmer Wynn Bethel after three trials for murder ended in hung juries. Judge Hill refused to allow dismissal noting the suit was on behalf of the estate and the plaintiff. Jury ruled for the defense recommending no damages. Prosecution changes announced with Kenneth Zuk named assistant prosecuting attorney replacing Melvin Reifin who resigns to lead Clermont County public defender program.

SFPC Bans Press From Meetings Over Integrity Claim

The Special Funding Priorities Committee voted 8-1 to ban press access citing preservation of integrity and fear reporting could skew evaluation of federal revenue sharing fund applications. The advisory Clermont group, chaired by John Essary, argues meetings should remain closed to protect accurate review by all nine members.

Underground school drug survey sparks administration questions

Glen Este High School students circulated an unsigned paper from Students for Union and Change claiming plans for an independent in school drug survey and questioning why West Clermont Schools were left out of a county survey. Board President Robert Ludlow condemned unsigned materials and said the district has a policy against them.

Jackson Two. Limits Oversize Vehicle Travel

Jackson Township Trustees approved a resolution requiring special permits for oversize vehicles using township roads. Vehicles exceeding state limits must apply to the township clerk. The action cites Ohio Revised Code chapters 557.01 to 557.09 for definitions and authority.

Clermont County and Cincinnati businessmen bought the Cincinnati Comets American Soccer League franchise. Six new players from Cartago Costa Rica joined, housed at SEM Villa in Milford, with a press conference planned at the Playboy Club to unveil owners, players, and the Comets schedule.
