Milford Fire Claims Three Lives In Saturday Blaze
Milford residents mourn after a early Saturday fire destroyed a frame house at 314 High Street. Mrs. Jean Parker perished in her sleep, Warren Gordon died from burns, and Ronald DeMarcia succumbed days later. Parker and Gordon had services scheduled at Calvary Methodist Church. Gordon leaves a widow and four children. Rufus Parker remains hospitalized and in critical condition. fire officials have not determined the blaze cause or total loss.

Teen group to use Courier meeting room in Batavia

Nearly 20 officers and a prosecutor abandoned a Clermont raid on The Hut after suspects claimed a deputy sheriff tipped off the club. The group instead targeted Springvale Tavern in Blanchester, where three teens were detained and two girls released after ID checks. Juvenile Court expects possible license suspension for The Hut.

Woman Elected to State Board at DAR Conference
Milford Miss Sheila Fisher was elected to the state board of trustees of Waldschmidt house at the 58th annual state conference of the Daughters of the American Revolution held March 18 at the Dayton-Biltmore Hotel. Waldschmidt house is a state museum, property of the DAR, at Camp Dennison. Mrs. J W Smith reported progress on Book III of Revolutionary soldiers buried in Ohio, with Mrs. W Earle Johnson assisting. Other Beech Forest Chapter members at the session included regent Lovell Atkins and members Hugh Weaver, Joseh Schultz, Earl Lipps, and Oscar Dumford Sr.

The Batavia PTA with the Clermont County Board of Health and Dr Charles Kramer announces a free polio clinic in Batavia on April 10 from 10 to 11 am at Batavia Elementary School. The first Salk vaccine shots will be given to residents under 20, with a local physician, county health nurses, and PTA members volunteering.

Emergency landing near Beagle farm on School Houses Rd

State Adds Footage To Sidewalk Plans
The Ohio Department of Highways will install 4800 extra feet of sidewalks along State Route 125 in Clermont and Hamilton counties as part of the widening and paving project. The sidewalk addition raises estimated costs, with final amounts pending complete plans. Contract awarded to Don S. Cisle for grading, drainage, widening, and asphalt paving of five and one half miles, with project completion by September 30, 1958.
