Clermont County Women Voters Organizing Meeting Scheduled

A pre organizational session in the CG&E auditorium April 29 at 8 p.m. aims to establish a Clermont County League of Women Voters. Mrs Mary Ludlum will explain League structure and function and an overall chairman will be elected. At least 50 members must be registered to gain provisional status.

Clermont County Alcoholism Council names Stewart president

Calvin Stewart was elected president of the Executive Committee of the Clermont County Council on Alcoholism at the March 24 meeting. Other officers selected were John Kelly as vice president Richard Ewing as secretary and Rev. David Hogg as treasurer. The council set plans to resubmit its grant with Board recommended revisions and discussed office space funding travel and clerical support. The next meeting is April 4 at 4 30 p m in the CG&E auditorium.

Youthful trio river rescue after canoe capsizes at Batavia dam

Three young men aged 19 and 20 narrowly escaped drowning when their canoe went over a rain swollen dam on the East Fork of the Little Miami River in Batavia. They wore life jackets and swam to shore. the men were John Gillespie 19 of Batavia, Ted Ellis 20 of Batavia, and Mark Williams 19 of Willowee Drive, who had launched at Park Batavia.

Batavia Easter Egg Hunt Sets 42 Merchants as Prizes

In Batavia the 24th Annual Easter Egg Hunt will reward participants with prizes donated by 42 local merchants. A thousand eggs colored in traditional shades are prepared by Legion members the night before and hidden around the Weaver post grounds. Children are divided into age groups for the hunt.
