Daniel Hughes died last Wednesday at his Batavia home after years of ill health. He prior taught in Middletown schools before retirement and worked in nursery work in recent years. Health Dept urges early dates for pre school roundups

Clermont county schools and PT0s planning a pre school round up to enter school next fall are urged by Health Commissioner Dr. J A Carter to set dates early, preferably in the summer. Children will have physicals vision and hearing tested, with cooperations offered to plan and obtain needed treatments. Last year twenty round ups drew 170 children and many defects were found and treated early.

Hamersville Fire Destroys Six Room House In East Hamersville

Fire started from four chimneys Sunday in Hamersville, destroying a six room frame residence and threatening nearby homes. Loss around 3000 dollars, partly insured. Mrs. Elizabeth McBeth saved some furniture. Carl and other occupant lost personal effects. Fire began after Gilman lit a kitchen stove at 7 15 AM. Hamersville and Bethel fire units failed to save the house, which belonged to Mrs. Elizabeth Tobin and her son near Georgetown.
