The Clermont County teachers spring meeting will be at Milford Ohio on March 30 with a morning address by T S Lowden of Columbus. The afternoon features the Clermont County Oratorical and Musical Contest at Milford High School Auditorium. Admission 2 cents adults 15 cents children. Luncheon served by Milford High School home economics class. Also noted is the first teachers exam of the year at Batavia High School on April 6 with renewal options and required subject lists.

Three youths bound over for auto accessory theft
Night Marshal Alec Pierson of Milford arrested Edgar Massie seventeen Fred Cuneo nineteen and Wm Sargent seventeen of Owenaville for removing accessories from a parked auto. Mayor Hill bound them over to the grand jury in bonds of one thousand dollars each. They are jailed.

Bethel Plans Grant Memorial Building on Main Street
Citizens of Bethel will build a Grant Memorial Building at Main and Plane streets on Grant Highway at a cost of 24000. The two story 58 by 70 foot structure includes a recreation room and an auditorium for 1000, with a caretaker’s apartment, using variegated brick. Polluck Steel Co of Cincinnati will furnish reinforcing steel and Lang Co will supply structural steel. Funds come from Grant gold half dollars and local carnivals. dedication expected around July 4. Boy Scouts Admit New Members and Plan Four Patrols
At the regular meeting last Thursday, James Gregg, Wm Wolf, Richard Grace, Nelson Patchell, and Edward Patchell filed applications for membership. Nine boys earned Tenderfoot badges and one earned the Second Class badge. The troop will form four patrols to handle rapid expansion, with weekly meetings 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays. Scoutmaster H P Abbott and Assistant Franklin Morrison presided as song books were provided and identification cards issued. Thomas Moorehead of Williamsburg suffered a stroke last week, leaving him almost helpless and speechless. he is a former infirmary superintendent and current county soldiers relief commission member, with serious condition.

Obituary of Olive Applegate Widow of W B Applegate
Olive Applegate widow of W B Applegate and daughter of John and Eliza Silcott was born October 11 1847 in Batavia and died March 3 1929 at age 81 years 4 months 20 days. She married W B Applegate March 1869 and had four children two sons and two daughters one son died in infancy. Surviving children are Walter Applegate Milford Ohio Mrs H E Stewart and Mrs J C Burton Columbus Ohio. One brother George Silcott Mansfield Ohio. Forty four years were spent in Branch Hill and she chose to live out her remaining years with old friends following her husband's death.

Father of 13 children arrested for whiskey possession
Oscar Wilkerson of Loveland, operator of the Waldo Hotel, was arrested Saturday night by Marshal John Parker for possession of whiskey. A half pint was found. He was jailed in Batavia after a hearing Monday before Judge Charles White, pleaded guilty, and paid a $125 fine and costs. Wilkerson has been in Loveland about a year and hails from Kentucky.

County Commissioners Meet March 18 Transact Several Bills
County commissioners on March 18 approved payrolls and relief payments to residents, listed bills for labor, supplies, and services from Bell Telephone and the Courier, and opened bids for jail infirmary doctor care and coal for county buildings. Oscar Glancy’s coal bid won at 61.7 per ton, with Keen and Willie Coal & Supply also submitting offers. A Ford Tudor was to be advertised with a surveyor's Chevrolet Coach acceptable as part payment.

An 18 month old boy, Junior son of Melvin Young of Mt Plagah, fell head first into a half filled lard tub while his mother washed and drowned. He was found dead and burial was scheduled.
