OSU Alumni Speaker Ronald F. O'Brien To Address Clermont Banquet

Ronald F. O'Brien, three time All American diver and OSU diving coach since 1963, will speak at the Clermont OSU Alumni Association banquet at 7 30 p m on April 13 at the Homestead Inn Milford. O'Brien earned varsity O letters in diving and gymnastics, led All American diving squads, and was a top NCAA springboard champion. He has coached national champions, prepared divers for the 1964 Olympics, and performs in a two man diving and clown act with Dick Kimball of Michigan. He holds degrees from OSU and is pursuing a doctorate. He is married with a daughter and son.

Judge Hottle Rules Again In Longfield Case

Judge Darrell Hottle of Hillsboro rules that sewer rights over private land require purchase and that the Longfield Acres plant must add advanced purification. He notes sand filtration would be needed for suspended solids and emphasizes developers, county and plant owners must ensure neighbor safety. Plaintiffs William and Regina White and Fred Herrle own adjacent 170 acres and 70 home subdivision.

Clermont County earns substantial interest on investments

Clermont County treasurer Byron Ross reported 1965 investment income of 87,300 from U S Treasury bills, well above 60,699 the prior year. The county, with 700,000 invested in short term notes, received 6984 from inactive funds, 50,941 from active funds, 4187 from MGS Water System funds, and 25,185 from Union Township sewer funds. Owensville signs three year fire protection contract with Stonelick Township at 5500 annually.

Union Township completes sewer system and urges traffic signal

Clermont County commissioners announced the Union Township sewer system is complete with final connections on Debbie Carol Drive Dieckman Lane and Jackie Drive plus two truck lines. A lift station on Dieckman Lane is operating and the last one in Murph and Murph Subdivision is finished. They will ask the State Highway Department to install a traffic signal at Hopper Hill Road and State Route 125 due to a history of accidents including a fatal mishap.

Township Dog Problem Urged for Countywide Control

A committee of township trustees and mayors urged the county commissioners to unify dog enforcement. Proposals include a single supervising authority, a dog truck, more field staff, a county dog census, humane capture nets, and routing unneeded pound dogs to researchers. They seek Saturday Sunday and holiday coverage and a larger pound, with strict enforcement. The county awaits a legal opinion on using unspent dog funds to fund improvements and leasing the current humane society pound on Rt 222. Milford plans its own warden and pound. The 1965 bite tally exceeded 400 with Union Township reporting 387 dog complaints and 82 bite cases.

County and local groups explore options to reopen Elizabeth Seton School on Buckwheat Road blocked by a court order over sewage from its treatment plant.
