A well-dressed man visiting Milford last week posed as a post office inspector. He obtained the name of postmaster KE Gatch, used a $10 check at Walton’s store and Stump’s drug store, and left with $0.62 in change after clearing $9.62 in about two hours before boarding a fired train. He gave the name Lin Stetsons and vanished.

Marvelous surgery in Higginsport saves gunshot victim
In Higginsport last week Frank Kellum, shot by a Flobert rifle, underwent a rare abdominal operation to repair a perforated large intestine. Doctors Wylie of Ripley and Smedley of Higginsport performed the 40 minute operation under ether, with the patient later recovering. A Georgetown dispatch notes the young man died Friday and was buried Sunday at Bethel.
