Miss Julia Sprague daughter of Mr and Mrs Samuel W Sprague of Batavia has been elected Editor-in-Chief of the Reflector Indiana Central College bi weekly. She is the first woman to hold the post in the college and has served as associate editor of the Reflector and Oracle. She graduates in 1883 and took the post at the Annual Press Club Banquet at Hotel English Indianapolis on March 11.

The Paxton mansion on Paxton road near Loveland, 60 years old with 17 rooms, burned Saturday around 2 AM. R J D Poe dairy farmer owned it. the family escaped with help after smoke inhalation. Loveland Fire Department saved the barn. loss estimated at 10000 with 7500 insured. The site ties to Capt Thomas Paxton, Revolutionary War soldier, later replaced by the destroyed brick and frame house.

Batavia Officials Tour Major Gas Plant Visit
Friday Batavia officials toured the Union Gas and Electric plant at Columbia Park near Cincinnati. The facility powers Ohio Indiana and Kentucky with 180 workers around the clock. Attendees were welcomed by officers and staff then dined at the Netherland Plaza Hotel. Sponsorship came from Southwestern Ohio Power Co through Rep Kruel of Milford.

Dr T A Speidel Dies After Brief Illness in Felicity
Clermont county physician Dr. T A Speidel died at his Felicity home after a short illness. He built a large practice across Southern Clermont and Western Brown counties for 26 years. Survived by widow, two children Mrs George Bowyer Cedron W Va and Janet, three brothers Eli Batavia Lewis Milford and Gateth London, and son of the late H C Speidel ex sheriff. Funeral Sunday from the home with burial in Green Lawn Milford. Clermont County Medical Society members served as honorary pallbearers.

Relief Wheat Distribution Aids Northwest Draught Area
The Red Cross reports 40 million bushels of government wheat will be ground into flour and shipped weekly for 90 days to Milford New Richmond and Batavia to aid needy families. Volunteers and township trustees assess local needs and 860 sacks of flour weekly are planned. The Red Cross also holds 80 packages of garden seed for the needy with orders via township trustees.
