Miami Township Farmers Club Meets at Mulberry School House

The Miami Township Farmer's Club met Saturday afternoon at two o'clock with a large crowd and a strong program. The constitution was amended to admit new members at any meeting and cereals and fertilizers were discussed. New members S J Rybolt H P Brown J H Brown G W Pool and Jerry Tice joined the club. The next meeting will be the second Saturday in April at the Mulberry school-house with fruit and stock on the agenda.

Hays Wins High Honors at Ohio Medical College

Thomas W. Hays, son of George W. Hays, Esq., of Bantam, earned top honors in a 100-plus student graduating class at Ohio Medical College in Cincinnati. He received a Gold Medal for best bandage for fractured limbs, praised by faculty and peers. He stands out as a modest, ambitious student from a small rural background.

Golden Wedding Celebrated by McClellands at Mulberry

Mr and Mrs John McClelland of Mulberry celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on March 9 with all eight children present from Milford Goshen Muncie Cincinnati Versailles Kansas City and Madisonville. An artist photographed the family group. The couple wed March 9 1837 and have lived in the Milford area ever since.

Fire destroys Thompson store at Point Isabel

A major blaze last Tuesday morning wiped out George W. Thompson’s large Point Isabel store and its entire contents. Insurance coverage totals $3,000 for stock and $1,800 for the building, signaling a heavy loss for the proprietor.

Fire destroys Hoover tobacco barn near Felicity

A tobacco barn owned by Frank Hoover two miles southeast of Felicity burned with its contents on March 11. The loss includes a tobacco crop. Insurance of five hundred dollars covered barn and contents with Phoenix Insurance Company. Cause undetermined.

Reed Frame House Burns East of Williamsburg

At about six o clock Sunday evening the large frame house of Joseph Reed, a mile east of Williamsburg, burned to the ground. Occupied by Reed and his son in law Sidney Markley and his family, most of the contents were saved. Loss about 1200 dollars with no insurance. Fire thought to be caused by a defective flue.
