W. W. Dowdney the Food Administrator announced a fresh allotment for Clermont county including 5,090 pounds smoked pork 8,000 pounds butter 500 sacks flour and many bags of oranges for children. Milk for lunches is provided at schools and 150 tons of coal plus blankets have been distributed to assist unemployed residents.
The Batavia Woman's Club will meet with Mrs. E. S. Rush next Saturday afternoon. The program includes Irish anecdotes and topics on Ireland's country and climate with pieces like Ireland's green shores and longing tied to St Patrick's Day. Music by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Banford featuring Glimpses of Life in Ireland.
Buckeye Lodge F A M New Richmond will present the Entered Apprentice and Fellowcraft degrees next Friday night at the lodge hall. Members and visitors are invited to attend the degree work and explanations of Masonic duties and symbolism.
A district Disaster Preparedness meeting occurred in Cincinnati on Monday with strong Clermont county representation. Judge Nichols was absent due to a funeral in Columbus for his former secretary. Attendees included Blythe Jones Milford, Gus Kayser Moscow, Wallace Prine Neville E W Howe Mrs Woodmansee and Mr Adams Chile O L Page Bethel Mrs Edna Spear Branch Hill Brice Hendrix Rev Budd and Mrs Mussy Batavia.
Arthur Shannon of Tabasco was struck by a Moorehead Kentucky truck on the pike while walking home from work. He died from a crushed head and broken ribs. Eyewitness Evalyn Bottoms saw the accident as the trio blocked the road. The driver fled but license number was obtained and a Clermont county hearing is ordered. Dr Mott of Amelia attended, and Shannon’s body was moved to White funeral home.
Residents along the Ohio River endured days of rising water and widespread worry as floodwaters covered low lands. The surge was checked in time, averting a major disaster and preventing further distress and damage to the area.
Mose writes of farm hardships and coal shortages while planning to move north. The Ohio Attorney General John W Bricker reports 1933 saw the busiest department turnover yet with 2146 legal opinions issued, down requests, and expenses of 139717 dollars, the lowest in nine years.
Governor George White reports Ohio received nearly 20 million dollars in federal relief from May 22, 1933, to March 1, 1934. General relief totals 17,544,998 dollars with 1,528,000 for commodities, 319,901 for education, 250,000 for transient aid and 63,557 for self help groups.
Ohio CWA statistics show about 45 million dollars will be spent by April 1 as the Civil Works Administration ends. From November 1938 to March 1 payrolls reached nearly 90 million and materials around 1 million, with an additional four million expected. Clermont County CWA quota drops to 206. officials seek urban classification for more work under FERA.

County Treasurer Erdman denies any wrongdoing as state examiner Doyle reports total findings of 7 758 22 in Clermont county. The largest deficit of 6 806 42 stems from undivided tax fund errors in Erdman and other officials face various mispayments and unallowed costs with several names listed and corrected.
Hillsboro resident Hillboro 25 year old Kittrell charged with murder of 91 year old Thomas Mitchell arraigned before Judge McBride and waives jury trial. A three judge panel will hear March 14 to March 21 with H B Pulse named defense counsel. first bench trial in Highland county under new law.
The National Reemployment Service in Clermont County Ohio asks all persons seeking any work to contact the office at Batavia stating the nature of work and number of men needed. It urges public help in placing the unemployed and notes no charge for services. Don’t miss the Minstrel Show at Mt Carmel school house Friday at 8 p.m.
J W McMurchy, president of Citizens Bank of Felicity Ohio, retires from active work after a 26 year career. He remains president by vote of the board while W S Pangburn and John E McCullough take direct charge. He plans farm retirement near Felicity and has a history of travel and trusted leadership.
The Milk and Cream Producers and Consumers Association of Franklin and nearby townshipsheld a meeting at the Franklin township hall on Thursday night March 8, 1984 with President Thurman Fee presiding. Secretary Byron Ross read and approved the previous minutes and noted the Bata via meeting from March 6. A general discussion on farmers interests followed and a next meeting is planned for Thursday night March 22 inviting all dairy farmers to attend.
A weekly reduction process drops workers from the list with 17 cut last week leaving 185 still on the roster. The deadline is April 1 and officials expect work to be sourced from an alternative provider.

Taxpayers learn that costs are low despite added expenses while presentations show construction savings and rentals. Upcoming meetings list dates and locations through March 24 with program screenings by the county agricultural agent.
School superintendent Louis L. Waggal of Locust Corner was seriously injured in a Wednesday morning crash on slippery pavement when a truck hit his auto near Cali fornia. He was taken to Bethesda Hospital with a fractured skull and severe head lacerations. the truck was driven by Max Bodkins of Charleston West Virginia. Waggal’s car was badly damaged.
Wilbur Lakemire of Williamsburg marked his 66th birthday with a six oclock dinner Friday March 9. Friends neighbors and many family members including his brother and his wife joined the celebration. He received many gifts and several large birthday cakes. Cards were exchanged and enjoyed into late hours.
A card party will be given by Mr Carmel Rebekah's on March 24 at the I C C F hall. Games include 600 Bridge Lotto and Pinochle. Admission is 25 cents.
The Mt. Carmel Parent Teachers Association will hold its March meeting next Friday March 16 at 3 p m. The program includes a talk by County Nurse Mrs Beckman on the Pre School Round Up and several other items. Officer nominations will occur and refreshments will follow.
South-central Ohio Professional Basketball Tournament releases the schedule for Friday and Saturday events at the high school gym on March 16 and 17. Matches include Jefferson Independents versus Minerva, Bolt Works versus Ripley All Stars, Georgetown Independents against Dayton York Supply, and Wright Flyers against Springfield Vartan Cleaners. Saturday features winners’ games at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., a 7:30 p.m. consolation, and 8:30 p.m. finals. Gibbie Venn to referee all games with Brown county officials aiding timing and scoring. Admission 35 cents except finals. playoff gate 40 cents.
Next Monday night March 19 the Clermont County League will meet at Amelia to set final plans for the 1934 season. Forfeit money will be posted baseball adopted and contracts handed to managers plus a schedule will be drawn up.
The Batavia High School Band sponsored event Friday night attracted a good crowd. The concert and card party showcased a well attended evening as the school building received a coat of fresh paint and looked inviting.
