The final date to collect real estate taxes in Clermont County is April 15 per County Treasurer J M Fitzpatrick after state tax commission guidance. The first week yielded over $25 000, with delinquent lists showing more than $10 000 collected in the opening week.
Pupils from Batavia High School earned top honors at the Girls' Hobby Display in Cincinnati. Miss Lucy Keen and Miss Sally Keen won a green ribbon for their scrap book Art through the Ages, praised for originality and comprehensive organization. Miss Edith Ayer took first prizes for a yo-yo bed-spread and a crocheted rug highlighting intricate design and careful workmanship.
The Batavia Garden club meets with Mrs. Chas. White on March 16. Topics include beautifying the town, spring perennial division led by Mrs. A. B. Nichols, planting for fragrance by Mrs. Gunderley, and specimen-forced shrubs with early spring blooms.
Harry McKeever of Union Township withdraws from the Democratic primary race for clerk of courts. The move empties the contest and opens the field for remaining candidates.
Batavia Woman's Club meets with Mrs Huecker on March 14. The program features Ibsen Beginning of Modern Drama by Mrs Colburn O'Neill and His Plays Music. The Theatre Guild and Its Successes presented by Mrs Forrest B'y.
Reports to the office indicate heavy fish losses as streams flood with floating ice. The ice, often heavy, crushes fish and carries them along, leaving many dead or injured in their habitat.
W. 8. Pangburn of Felicity, longtime member of the Clermont County Election Board, retires after six years of service missing only one meeting due to illness. He returns to hisFel icity bank position.
An Owensville amateur program sponsored by the Grange will be held at the school auditorium Saturday night March 21 at 8 pm. Entries must reach J. P. Hughes by March 19. Prizes are five dollars for first, three dollars for second, and two dollars for third. Admission 10 and 20 cents.
Revival services begin March 15 at 7 30 at Olive Branch M E Church. They will continue for an indefinite period with special music arranged for each service. Come and enjoy these services with us.

The bereaved husband and family thank relations neighbors and friends for support after the death of Effie E Cunningham. On March 7 Chester Whitesow of the Binning Bros property on the BE Turner farm at Perintown farrowed 20 pigs with 12 living, setting a county record in pig production.
Clermont County farmer Albert Channell, 65, near Mt. Holly, was found dead in a muddy field last Friday. His wife Nanny found him after he failed to return home at noon. He likely suffered a stroke, fell, and was crushed by a hauling sled, with a broken neck. Funeral services were held at Bantam Presbyterian Church and he is buried at Old Bethel Cemetery. In Cincinnati the Cincinnati Producers Cooperative Livestock Commission Association held its annual meeting at the Netherland Plaza, drawing 1497 attendees including at least 75 from Clermont County. New directors elected included Lloyd Nickels, J. C. Bedinger, and W. K. Swan.
Effie E. Hutson born in Mt. Olive Ohio on March 4 1874 was the first child of seven of David E. and Mary Canter Hutson. She married James W. Cunningham May 2 1926 and died March 3 1936 at age nearly 62. She left brothers Harry E Hutson and Roy Hutson and sisters Ivy Robison Harriet Kernohan. Her life was marked by kindness hospitality and devotion to family and church attendance when able. She is remembered as a good woman who cared for the needy and family. Her funeral prayers and biblical verses close the notice.
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Lampe and children called on Mr. and Mrs. Sid Curtis Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer McCalla of Cincinnati spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Hattie Denkinger.
The Federal Public Works Administration approves contracts totaling 50335.22 for Felicity Franklin Rural School District. The Ohio State Construction Company secures 42627.22 for general work, C Emrich Company 4158 for heating, Beltzhoover Electric 2150 for wiring, and Durbrow Otte 1400 for flooring. Four new classrooms and a gymnasium auditorium will be added with a 24545 federal grant.
The East Hill Farm Woman's Club held Guest Day at Mrs. Anna Maham's home with guests Mrs. Anna Arnold Mrs. Defrattes and Miss Janet Villari. Program by Mrs. Carmilla Villari featured readings by Helen Holman Florence Salter Janet Villari Alma Patterson and a poem by Stella Moore. Ida White won the contest. The next meeting is April 2 at Mrs. Villari's home.

Edward Haworth second son of Uriah and Angeline Patchell Haworth was born October 28 1861 in Stone Lick Ohio and died February 28 1936 at Pauls Valley Oklahoma aged 74 years 4 months. He moved to Oklahoma in 1908 joining brother Frank on a ranch where they worked 88 years. He leaves five brothers Uriah James Jesse Lowell and Frank and many nieces nephews and friends. Weep not that his toils are over. God grant that we rest as calmly when our work is done.
At Monday meeting the County Commissioners approved 250 dollars for the surveyor's emergency fund to repair roads damaged by severe winter weather.

The Clermont County Farm Bureau selects Miss Wilma Barrackman Batavia and Allen Lee Harris Bethel to attend a week long camp March 15 to 20 near Delaware. The camp, run by the Ohio Farm Bureau educational division, is supervised by Wm. G. Winemiller and Carl R. Hutchinson and focuses on cooperative history economics business organization and public speaking for youth training.
Judge Charles G. White handed down sentences to four youths from Bethel and Manchester for burglary tied to a chicken theft ring. George Lindsey Elbert Sells Herbert Yonas and Glen Bailey received terms ranging from one to fifteen years with suspended or deferred sentences.
Clermont County teams Milford and Williamsburg exited the southwestern district basketball tournament in Cincinnati after tough opening losses. Milford fell 28 to 25 in overtime to Waynesville, while Williamsburg lost 38 to 32 to Wyoming’s sharp shooters.
Mrs. Robert Foster of Broadway hosted a birthday dinner Sunday for her grandfather D L Maham of Cincinnati. Attendees included Lucien Maham and wife from the city and Isaac Maham and family from Williamsburg.
Batavia Grange celebrated its eighth anniversary last Thursday with a 6 30 dinner for about 150. Guests included Allen Ashton Pomona Master and Wright Wolf County Deputy. Mrs Woodmansee organized a very nice program.
The Batavia P T A will hold its March meeting on Thursday at 3 30 in the school auditorium. A Silver Tea for St Patrick’s day is set for the 17th from 2 30 to 5 at the homes of Mesdames Elmer Kramer and Francis Deter.
The Amelia Town Team finishes its season Friday at home against the Kentucky Kernels of Miami University in the Amelia gym. A junior high matchup with Locust Corner will precede the main game.
