Gymnastics Demonstration at Batavia PTA Meeting

Gymnastics and folk dancing by 80 high school and junior high girls will be demonstrated by Miss Jerry Wilkerson, Batavia Physical Education Director, at the Batavia PTA meeting on Thursday March 9 at 8 00 p m at the high school on Bauer Avenue. The Citizen of the Year award will be presented by the Batavia Business Men's Association. An attendance prize of five dollars and ice cream treats for children will be provided to the room with the most parents present.

Batavia All Stars Face Williamsburg in Exchange Student Benefit

The Batavia Chapter of the American Field Service sponsors a benefit basketball game at Batavia High School on Saturday March 11 at 8 p.m. The Batavia All Stars, led by Coach Bob Clousson, face the Williamsburg All-Stars to raise funds for hosting a foreign student in 1967-68. Dermont County GOP to Meet March 9 at DX Ranch

The Dermont County Republican Club will hold its regular meeting Thursday March 9 at the DX Ranch on Route 125 in John Watson Batavia attorney and chairman of the Clermont Republican Executive Committee will speak on the county party role in state politics. The gathering begins at 8 p.m.

Union Trustees Pay Off Garage

Union Township trustees met on February 14 and 28 at the township hall on Glen Este Williamsville Road. A total of 17 580 63 was paid last month, including 9 446 86 toward the new garage behind the hall, per Clerk Louis J Donnellon.

County commissioners rejected a summary of regional consumer action program alleging it accused local merchants of overcharging, raising prices on welfare check days, and selling shoddy goods. Six Local Red Cross Volunteers Honored For 50 Years Service

Six area residents were among about 450 Greater Cincinnati Red Cross volunteers honored last week at a service recognition tea at the Red Cross Memorial Building. Total years of service among those recognized totaled 3,743. Francis L. Dale, president and publisher of the Cincinnati Enquirer and a Cincinnati Reds owner, spoke as featured speaker.

PTA Meeting Rescheduled for March 14 in Amelia

Bad weather forced Amelia Elementary PTA to push the meeting to next Tuesday March 14. Dr. Jerry F. Stara of the West Clermont School Board will discuss Freedom or Sec recy his life story including escape from Czechoslovakia. The Red Cross flag ceremony and volunteer drive were noted as part of broader community service efforts.

Judge Jackson Install Officers for Goshen Democratic Club

Judge Charles W. Jackson of Clermont County Juvenile and Probate Court will install new Goshen Township Democratic Club officers on Tuesday March 14 at 8 p.m. at Goshen Junior High School. New officers are Tom Evans president, Kathryn Templeton vice president, Evelyn Candelaresi secretary, and Jean Trapp treasurer. Installation was delayed from January due to illness.

Trustees Reverse 2 Zoning Decisions in Glen Este

Trustees reversed two zoning commission rulings in Glen Este Township after a crowded public hearing. OMNI Development Corp. plans 114 apartments on 8 acres at Bells Lane and Route 32, a plan residents opposed. Charles McGuire, seeking higher business zoning for 8 acres at Old Route 74 and Glen Este Williamsville Road, was instead granted a more restrictive change. Residents cited increased traffic as a key objection to both proposals. The OMNI decision will be appealed to Common Pleas Court.

Auctioneer Dies Norway is DAR Program Topic

A well known auctioneer who ran an area business since 1927 died recently. He once operated an auction barn at Batavia and held frequent sales in Middletown. Funeral services were held at Maham Funeral Home with burial in Williamsburg Cemetery. He left three sisters and one brother. Clough Valley Chapter DAR will meet March 13 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Terrace Park for a travel program on Beautiful Norway presented by Mrs. Marion Gilbert who will discuss her world travels and Scandinavian experiences.

County Pushes Projects To Accomodate Industry

Clermont County commissioners push two major development projects to attract industry. They seek a 1.1 million federal grant for a water extension and plan 285 thousand in revenue bonds to cover the rest, aiming to serve 2 500 customers with new water mains and two treatment plants. The effort includes linking MGS and PUB systems to Cincinnati and funding details discussed with a Chicago trip.

Northeastern Lions Club formed at Clermont High School

In Clermont, the Northeastern Lions Club held its first dinner meeting at Clermont Northeastern High School on Feb. 27 electing Walter G. Knauff president and naming officers and directors. The group discussed community eye testing for preschoolers and plans charter night in April, with next meeting set for March 13. Two fires occurred during the snowstorm, one in Williamsburg and one in Bethel, with injuries reported. An evacuation plan was arranged at New Richmond High School and a Willowville softball league is forming at Mt. Carmel VFW field.
