County-Wide Dog Quarantine May Be Placed In Effect Soon

County Health Commissioner W H Gaskins says a county wide dog quarantine may start within days. Rabies tests on dogs from the county’s southern area have positive indications and Dr Charles Fitzpatrick will confer with Dr Gaskins as the drive to capture strays continues. Dog owners are urged to keep pets tied up.

Batavia Plans Five New Village Street Lights

The Batavia lights committee recommended five additional lamps to the village council. Proposed locations include Route 74 near the hill, Route 222 at two narrow bridges, Forest Avenue, and the foot of Clark Street. About six months and $33 yearly per light are expected for installation and material costs.

Batavia Keeps Winning Streak In Class B Action

Batavia faces Terrace Park at Xavier Field House in Cincinnati as part of a busy Class B schedule with North College Hill versus Lockland Wayne Plainville versus Trenton and St Bernard versus Wyoming. Batavia has 20 wins in 22 games and Herman Didday averages 15 points per game with a season total of 334. Posts Bought for Veteran Housing in Clermont County

Clermont County Commissioners move to establish temporary housing for nine veteran families. Ireton Brothers of New Richmond win a bid to supply 100 locust posts for foundations at 50 cents each, Clarence Teal of Milford 150 posts at 60 cents each. Posts due by March 17. Attorney Paul Biffle to draft leases for housing sites.

World War Ace Now Teaching At Goshen

Captain John Voll, ace of the Mediterranean theater with 21 enemy planes credited, returned to Goshen to teach science and coach athletics at Goshen Centralized Township School. He served 14 months in the Pacific and 8 overseas months in Europe, earning the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Stars, Flying Crosses, Air Medals, and Battle Stars. He led a lone escort mission engagement near Aviano Airdrome where he shot down multiple enemy aircraft before returning safely.

License tags go on sale Monday in Clermont County

Auto license tags for 1947 are to go on sale throughout Clermont County Monday. Deputy registrars will issue new tags and require certificates of title. All cars must have tags by March 31, 1947 with no extension anticipated. Clermont County registrars listed with offices and hours.

IBridge contract awarded for Light Run bridge project

The Light Construction Company of New Richmond has been awarded the Light Run bridge contract on the Williamsburg Chile road in Clermont County. The project costs $52,993.85 and must be completed by November 30, 1947. Other Clermont County projects will be announced soon. Construction was recommended by John Hayden, county representative.

Local Ohio unit joins National Guard as Company B 147th Infantry

Safety Campaign For Kite Flying Under Way

The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company's 15th annual safety drive on kite flying is underway. Over 6,000 posters detailing rules for safe participation are being distributed to schools and Boy Scout groups in Clermont County and nearby Greater Cincinnati. Director Robert H.
