Amelia unveils Vril Gas powered lighting along the main avenue, turning on a new system by Clermont boyarry K Powell of the Vril Gas Company. The 24 globe topped lamp posts emit a brighter, steadier light, with promises to extend piping to homes and transform local power, heat and illumination.
A Woman's Club committee met the council Monday to seek approval and cooperation for beautifying city hall grounds. Councilman Nichols announced he will stop using the obstructed footpath. The petition seeks permission for enhancements to make the park area blossom and grass grow in the cut-off space.
At a Monday commissioners session Samuel Alexander was granted parole after 94 days confined. He paid part of fines and costs, lacks funds to finish payment, and will pay $500 monthly starting April 1 until the balance is settled.
At the recent election for bond issues to complete pavements, 1256 votes supported the measure and one voted against, likely due to a misapprehension. Construction is set to resume early in April.

Jeanette Adams sues Brown County common pleas court against C G P Railroad Company for 5000 dollars damages. She alleges she rode a traction car that ran away, the conductor and motorman abandoned it, and she jumped from the car in fright, sustaining serious injuries. She seeks 5000 dollars.
Clermonters cheer the renomination of Hon. Amor Smith to head the Cincinnati surveyor of customs post. His proven efficiency earns praise and secures D. K. McDonald’s secretary role. Smith’s salary is $5,000 annually as surveyor, with a $2,500 figure noted for another office.
Will of Milton Jamieson probate faced resistance and a pending contest in common pleas court. Executors Charles T. Jamieson and Percy F. Jamieson named. At the Armory on Saturday night Hillsboro meets Batavia in a 150 point pool tournament. Top players include H B Glancy J E Chaney Peter A Ballinger O Whistler John E Hillin F C Mears Louie Buerkle and G O Fise. The new table from the city hosts the event with admission 26 cents and play at 8 o clock sharp.
Martin Reddick, aged about nine, died at his Brown County home on February 26. Father of eight, he bought the family farm in 1889 and lived there continuously. He sent four sons to the army, all achieving commendable records.
On February 27 Rev Dr Brown united Dale Casel and Milas Louie Turner in marriage at Mr Monjar’s home in Owenaville. Attendants were Russel Ruchman and Miss Nettle Apgar. The bride wore white and the bridesmaid a rose costume. the groom and best man wore black.
Dispatches report Sim Ellis, a mulatto barber born in Batavia, was arrested in Columbus on a grave assault charge against 16 year old Marie Studer. Studer identified him, but Ellis claimed an alibi with his roommate. Later reports say the alibi proved him innocent and Studer admitted an error.
Batavia relief fund treasurer reports $211 surplus after flood aid. Citizens consent to transfer pro rata shares to Batavia Public Library, with about $125 to library and $86 to treasury. Funds to paint the public building and add new books to the library collection.
City hall Batavia hosts the Clermont County Teachers Institute with Superintendent Curry of Dayton delivering the opening address. Program includes music, readings, round tables, and a discussion on teaching writing with sessions by Miss Florence Glancy and Miss Nellie Breeding.

John H. Fishback won a full verdict against L. W. Hitch in a lawsuit over a 135 acre farm sale. Fishback, a real estate agent, claimed a $500 commission from a $4,500 sale after producing a buyer, while Hitch had secured another buyer and argued he could sell on his own motion. The jury found for Fishback in full.
March 24 is designated pledge signing day for Sunday schools across Ohio. Attendees are expected to commit to total abstinence from intoxicating liquor. The pledge promotes morals governance and society. details will be sent to applicants of the Ohio Sunday-school Association at 79 Ruggery Building Columbus.

A New Richmond company of 62 boys drilled in arms aided war widows by sawing cords of wood for Mrs Robb and other homes. They marched at night with torches, led by Captain Ross, with George McMurphy as 1st lieutenant and Burns as 2d lieutenant, then returned home proud of their deed.

Walter S Reynolds died at his Linwood home on Monday March 4 1907 in his fourth year. He led the Linwood fire company as captain and was respected as a brave officer. He was the eldest son of Daniel Reynolds. A widow three children and other relatives survive. Services were held at the residence that afternoon the remains cremated and interred at Olive Branch cemetery.
