The Commercial Gazette features portraits of Dr. J. C. Kennedy and John White. John White, born October 26 1807 near Bantam Clermont county, moved to Batavia, married Clarissa Rogers, had six children, and became a leading local hat maker and Presbyterian. Dr. James Kennedy born February 11 1809 in Butler county Pennsylvania studied medicine, served in the Ohio Legislature in 1847 1848, helped return General Hamer’s remains from Mexico, and now aged about eighty two, enjoys retirement in Batavia.
