Owensville dedicates first new post office building
Owensville observed the officially dedicated new post office on Sunday February 25 at 2 p.m. The building, owned by Carl and Lila Fetter, was inaugurated with ceremonies at the elementary school. Local officials including Mayor Robert Hyde and postmaster Lilla McAfee attended, with Rev. Robert Hayes delivering the invocation and the band from Clermont Northeastern providing music. The ceremony featured flag presentation from R H Glassmeyer and open house with refreshments at the new post office.

Two Escapees Nabbed After Jail Break and Home Robbery
Two Batavia jail escapees John L. Hargett 31 Williamsburg and James Troxell 19 Glen Este were recaptured near Hillsboro after fleeing jail and robbing the Kuttler home on Rt. 132. They bound the homeowner and his son, taunted the sheriff by phone, and were stopped at a U.S. 50 roadblock following a theft spree including four loaded guns. Hargett, paroled from Ohio State Penitentiary, faced several burglary charges. Troxell, paroled from West Virginia Penitentiary, was held on burglary and threats to a tavern keeper.

Curtis Allen Banks five year old son of Mr and Mrs Oliver Banks died suddenly at home on Fayebanks Lane Williamsville Sunday from a fast acting virus per Clermont County Coroner Dr A A Gruber. Life Squad arrived but found him dead. he had a history of delicate health and several operations. Services were held at Powers Nurse Funeral Home at 11 am Wednesday.

Clermont County Medical Society met in Milford to view a color film of a middle ear procedure for hearing loss from Prosclerosis. Dr Raymond L Pfister demonstrated the operation developed by Dr Shea of Memphis using vein tissue and plastic forms via the ear canal with a microscope. Physicians Recognized for HEAF School TB Testing Work
At Clermont County Medical Society meeting on February 7, executive secretary H Stirling Moore awarded certificates to physicians for voluntary work in the Heat testing program for county school children. The effort covered 4403 children 432 school personnel and 703 tests at PTA meetings with 54 children 85 staff and 73 PTA participants showing positive reactions. Free full mouth X rays and mobile X ray service were arranged with 20 locations March 13 through April 5, with the schedule to be released soon.
