Rt 74 Reopens To Traffic After Barrier Removal

The last barricade on State Route 74 west of Batavia was removed after 1 p.m. Thursday restoring two way traffic for thousands of motorists who had detoured for two and a half weeks. Flagmen direct cars over the damaged section while heavy construction and mud slow progress on the rest of the route and workers finish drainage near Meadowbrook Drive and the Courier building.

Landmark move reshapes Amelia street scene this week

Mr and Mrs Francis Stievenard watch Metzgar Movers relocate their 1876 home once built by Joseph Grey from Main Street toward Floral Avenue. A new landmark will occupy the vacated lot as Mt Lookout Savings and Loan aims to become the county’s largest firm of its kind. The couple still resides inside as crews proceed amid temporary household disruptions.

Felicity Man In Jail For Thefts In 3 Counties

George Fisher 28 of Felicity is jailed on charges of breaking into a school and ten business and professional sites across Brown Highland and Clinton Counties. Police tracked him after he fled a Russellville Bank money bag, later found discarded, and tips from Wilmington police linked his car to the crimes.

Dayton Editor In Town To Interview Miami Conservancy District

Fisher Admits Break-ins Across Three Counties

Fisher admitted entering six locations in Brown County, three in Highland, and two in Clinton. Police say the total loot was about $200. He will face charges in all three counties.
