Two Bureau of Standards officers arrive in Batavia to set up a Central Radio Propagation laboratory on the Carmen property near Caudil Road. Equipment will test earth atmosphere layers to improve long range radio communication. Also features a profile of 4-H member Edith Faye Halbisch of Batavia, active in cooking and sewing with the Batavia Needle Points club.

Painter Appointed Chief of New Richmond Police
The New Richmond village council named Andy Painter, 39, owner of the New Richmond Taxi Co, as chief to replace Fred Hoh who resigned February 14. Painter, with no police experience, will lead the department, while Hoh’s resignation was contested as invalid and councilman John Hoh briefly resigned. Owensville man fra F Cox sustained a fractured nose and a cut on the left ear when his car overturned on U S 50 west of Stonelick Saturday afternoon. He swerved to avoid another car while returning home from work and was treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital.

Thieves Break Into Two Clermont Schools Looting Funds
Burglars entered Williamsburg and Owensville high schools by smashing a window and freeing the sash. Authorities say both incidents likely committed by the same pair. Williamsburg losses totaled about 59 dollars with cash boxes and ticket sales missing. Owensville reported 3.75 dollars remaining, no other thefts found.

Four people died in a weekend wreck on route 131 near Pleasant Hill Church. Two Milford men, Lester Ward and Charles Dean, suffered cuts and bruises and were taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Roy McDuffie, owner of the stalled car, reported stopping after a fuse blew. Deputy Hutchinson said both vehicles were badly damaged.

Private Morris age 17 son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Morris of Batavia Rt 3 reveals in a letter he earned a Purple Heart for a hand wound while serving with the Third Infantry Division in Korea. He completed basic training at Fort Knox and was later at Fort Lawton before being flown to Japan last October.

Milford Council appoints former patrolman as police chief
Milford council in special session appointed Joseph A. Wintersole 37 former patrolman as police chief to succeed Earl N Konrad who resigns February 20. Fifth Victim In Critical Condition
A two car collision on U S 52 near New Richmond Tuesday night left four men dead and a fifth critically injured. Victims were J F Radford and W N Radford of Louisa Kentucky Carl Sarver 22 of Cincinnati and William F Jacobs 30 Ironton Ohio. Louis Douglas 313 Chestnut Ironton suffered severe head injuries and was not expected to live. Officials cite loss of control on a slight curve and a collision with the other vehicle carrying the Ironton men.
