Funeral services for 78 year old Charles Foster Knowles who died in Christ Hospital will be held at Broadwell Funeral Home Felicity on Wednesday at 2 PM with burial at Sewante Cemetery Felicity. He lived in Felicity since 1930 retired from Cincinnati business. Earl L. Campbell a Sardinia real estate broker collided with Sheriff Auxier s car driven by Deputy Roy Billingsley at 7 o clock Monday night in front of the sheriff s residence. The deputy allegedly failed to give a hand signal and turned left causing the crash breaking the running board on the sheriff s car. Campbell claims innocence. No arrests and one person injured.

Guests packed the home of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Lutes as their son John Wills wed Stella Shepherd of Glen Este. Rev. Clarence Clifton officiated under a latticed bow in a floral setting. Beechwood Camp Set To Open July 10 At Beechwood Grounds

Beechwood Young People's Camp will open Sunday July 10 at Beechwood Grounds four miles south of Batavia on East Fork. Camp director Mrs Grayce Honaker leads a staff including Rev L Winterberg, Mrs Mary Zimmerman, Mr and Mrs John Wagenhals, Miss Sarah Pollock, and Miss Alice Wilmink. The 12 day session costs a dollar per day for room and board with classes on youth issues. Age limit is 15 to 26. Alumni day is July 17 with picnic, service, reunion, vespers, and pageant.

Storm damages Batavia area and nearby residents

A Sunday storm struck Batavia and vicinity causing many shade trees to break and some corn to lay flat. East Batavia suffered most with several trees felled, houses touched, and utility lines damaged. J. E. Lytle’s property and Oscar Bauer’s home also sustained damage as lights and phones were out.

Fire destroys Roudebush cottage near Batavia

A 5 room cottage belonging to Judge Allen C. Roudebush of Norwood was destroyed by fire Saturday at 6 30 p m near Batavia. Estimated loss is about $2000. The fire started from a water heater. Batavia fire department responded. The cottage stood among several nearby cottages.
