Dun's Review for the week ending June 25 finds little new business due to the war with exports and grain demand remaining strong. Wheat exports show rising prices and large yearly totals, corn exports rise, and overall production stays steady with wage agreements largely settled.
Three men Dr. A. L. Guertin Squire Thomas Kay and Elwood Turner dynamited fish in Highland county. They pled guilty and were fined 100 each plus 24 hours in jail with imprisonment waived. Fines go to the game warden. the prosecuting attorney earns ten percent if the case goes to trial. All fines paid.
The New Richmond branch of the old O and E road has been sold for junk to a Cincinnati firm. Workers are tearing up tracks and removing ties. The line was abandoned years ago. Mr. Devon owned the road and held every official post, from president to porter, earning no wealth in the end. All rolling stock except the engine is headed for the junk pile.
A hat of 34 dogs is valued at 516 dollars and will incur a per head tax of 1 dollar each in addition to the regular per capita levy.

A boy slept through war news and a lamp fire set his bed alight in a Wood Street apartment. Raum acted quickly by tossing the bed from the window and stamping out the blaze. Minor damage aside from the bed, the incident prompts a reminder to finish reading before lighting candles.
The Wilmington Journal notes a spontaneous wedding at the parsonage as a couple wed while decorations were still in place. The event occurred hours before the pastor's daughter wed, with a large family photograph capturing four generations including Rev. A. N. Spahr, his wife, and descendants.

Free train from the city to Terrace Park drew crowds for dedication with readings by officials and music. The complex includes a 150 foot dining hall and a flag hoisting ceremony. At New Richmond last Thursday Mrs James Watson an elderly woman fell in her home due to weakness from old age and broke her hip. Doctors fear she cannot recover.
John Beebe of Crosstown was knocked from a scaffold last Friday and suffered three broken ribs. Granville Abernathy also fell that day, dislocating his shoulder.
Mrs Fielding Dial entertained at five o clock tea last Saturday evening. Guests included Mrs T P Breeding Mrs Edison Bell Mrs Henry W Bailey Mrs A J McNair Mrs W T Kain Mrs Stephen Cramer and Mrs C P Ferguson. The evening was most charmingly spent.
The Jottos and society of the Monterey Presbyterian church assisted by the Indies of the congregation will serve ice cream cake and lemonade in the church yard Saturday evening July 2. Liberal patronage is solicited and it is expected to be a pleasant social event.
Bantam fair grounds will host a busy Fourth of July program with preparations already underway for the day’s events. Residents will witness a series of sports and pastimes designed for public enjoyment.
